MakerSprint 2026: Fab Lab Kerala Announces Six-Day Digital Fabrication Programme

MakerSprint

Thiruvananthapuram: MakerSprint, the structured digital fabrication programme by Fab Lab Kerala of Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), has returned with its second edition to help aspiring makers transform their ideas from the concept stage into functional product prototypes through intensive hands-on training.

The six-day MakerSprint workshop will begin on July 13 at Fab Lab Kerala’s centre located at Technopark Phase-1 in Thiruvananthapuram.

The programme has been designed to enable participants to scale up concepts into working prototypes while gaining practical experience with industry-relevant digital fabrication technologies.

The MakerSprint programme follows the unique “5 Tools in 6 Days” learning model. Through this intensive workshop, aspiring makers will receive hands-on training aimed at helping them transform concepts into functional prototypes.

The programme is intended to empower participants with the confidence to validate their ideas using digital fabrication tools without encountering technical hurdles.

During the MakerSprint workshop, participants will exchange ideas, gain practical knowledge, and receive training on both open-source and proprietary software platforms.

The curriculum includes training across five major fabrication technologies – Laser Cutting, CNC Machining, PCB Milling, 3D Printing and Vinyl Cutting.

Participants will build products in each of these categories before combining their newly acquired skills to collaboratively develop a final working prototype, such as a home theatre sound system, which they can take home after completing the programme.

According to KSUM, the MakerSprint programme will be conducted periodically, creating regular opportunities for students, innovators, professionals and the general public to acquire industry-relevant digital fabrication skills.

The first edition of MakerSprint, conducted in May this year, received overwhelming feedback, with participants gaining substantial knowledge and practical skills across multiple fabrication disciplines.

Each MakerSprint batch will have 10 seats, with admissions offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The programme is open to students, innovators, professionals and members of the general public.

Interested participants can register online for the upcoming MakerSprint workshop.

Fab Lab Kerala is affiliated with the Center for Bits and Atoms, MIT, Boston, USA. Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) serves as the nodal agency of the Government of Kerala for entrepreneurship development and incubation activities across the state.
