iD Fresh Entrepreneurship Policy Offers Employees Sabbatical of Up to 18 Months to Build Businesses

iD Fresh Entrepreneurship Policy

Bengaluru: iD Fresh Food has launched the iD Fresh Entrepreneurship Policy to identify and nurture entrepreneurial talent within its workforce, giving employees the mentorship, business ecosystem and flexibility to turn their ideas into businesses.

Rooted in the company’s longstanding entrepreneurial culture and its belief in empowering people to dream, build and create, the policy establishes a structured pathway for employees who aspire to start and run businesses of their own.

Under the iD Fresh Entrepreneurship Policy, eligible employees will have the opportunity to explore entrepreneurial ventures both within the iD Fresh ecosystem and independently.

Selected employees will receive access to mentorship from internal leaders, business enablement opportunities, industry and investor networks, and selective infrastructure and brand support.

These resources are intended to help employees develop their ideas, understand the fundamentals of building a business and take their first steps towards entrepreneurship.

iD Fresh Entrepreneurship Policy Offers Up to 18 Months of Sabbatical

A key feature of the iD Fresh Entrepreneurship Policy is the part-paid sabbatical for ethical entrepreneurs, also referred to as the part-paid ethical entrepreneurship sabbatical.

The provision allows eligible employees to step away from their existing roles and pursue entrepreneurial ambitions while retaining a degree of financial support.

Depending on their level within the organisation, employees can take a sabbatical of up to 18 months to work on their ventures. The policy also establishes a defined pathway for employees to return to iD Fresh after their entrepreneurial journey.

This provision is designed to give employees the freedom to explore entrepreneurship without having to permanently close the door on their careers with the organisation.

The company said the policy would remain flexible, taking into account individual circumstances and entrepreneurial journeys.

iD Fresh will adopt a flexible approach to its human resources policy to encourage and enable employees to pursue entrepreneurship, both within and outside the iD Fresh ecosystem.

iD Fresh Builds on Its Existing Entrepreneurial Culture

The iD Fresh Entrepreneurship Policy builds on an entrepreneurial culture that the company says has existed within the organisation for years.

Several former employees have gone on to establish businesses of their own, demonstrating the entrepreneurial potential within its workforce.

These businesses include Daily Fresh Foods in Assam, I Made in Mangalore, A1 Snacks in Bengaluru and Jasper Prince, who have established a chapati manufacturing business in Bengaluru.

The new policy formalises the company’s approach to encouraging employees to explore entrepreneurial opportunities by providing them with access to mentorship, networks and other forms of business support.

P.C. Musthafa on the iD Fresh Entrepreneurship Policy

Commenting on the launch of the iD Fresh Entrepreneurship Policy, P.C. Musthafa, Global CEO and Chairman of iD Fresh Food, said:

“Entrepreneurship has always been a part of iD Fresh’s DNA. We have seen people who started their journeys with us go on to build businesses of their own, and that has reinforced our belief that talent should not be defined by a job description. There are people within every organisation who have the potential to build, create and lead something of their own.

With this policy, we want to identify that talent early and give it the opportunity to flourish. It is a difficult decision to part ways with the best members of my team, but I hope they go on to build ethical businesses that become even larger than iD Fresh.

Our objective is not just to support a few businesses, but to inspire a new generation of entrepreneurs by giving our people the confidence, mentorship and ecosystem to turn their ideas into something meaningful.”

iD Fresh Aims to Encourage Employee-Led Entrepreneurship

The iD Fresh Entrepreneurship Policy also reflects the company’s broader philosophy that professional success does not necessarily mean climbing the organisational ladder.

For some employees, it may mean building and leading a business of their own.

By creating opportunities for employees to pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions, iD Fresh aims to contribute to the growth of its people while supporting the creation of new businesses, ideas and employment opportunities.

Through the policy, the company seeks to provide aspiring entrepreneurs with the confidence, mentorship and ecosystem required to develop their ideas into viable ventures, while offering eligible employees a structured opportunity to explore entrepreneurship and a defined pathway to return to the organisation.
