Pune: Kalyani Steels Limited, a leading producer of engineering-grade special steels and part of the Kalyani Group, today announced the appointment of Amit Kalyani as Chairman of Kalyani Steels, effective close of business hours on October 28, 2026.

The company described the appointment as a planned leadership transition from Dr. Babasaheb Kalyani, who has chaired the company since its incorporation.

According to the company, the leadership transition positions Kalyani Steels for growth in green steel, advanced materials and global markets.

Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge Ltd., who has been appointed Chairman of Kalyani Steels, has been closely associated with the Kalyani Group’s businesses for over 25 years, the company said, and has led the group’s expansion into aerospace, defence, electric mobility and advanced materials.

“Kalyani Steels was built to meet the most exacting standards from day one, and that culture of precision is our greatest strength,” said Amit Kalyani, Chairman (Designate), Kalyani Steels Ltd.

“As India’s manufacturing ambitions demand materials that are greener, smarter and world-class, we will accelerate our journey in green steel, advanced materials and digitalised operations, deepen our presence in strategic sectors and global markets, and set new benchmarks for the Indian steel industry.”

Over several years, Amit Kalyani has worked closely with R. K. Goyal, Managing Director of Kalyani Steels, to shape and drive the company’s growth strategy, according to the company.

As the new Chairman of Kalyani Steels he takes the helm of a company that has grown from a captive supplier to Bharat Forge into a producer serving automotive, industrial and strategic sectors in India and global markets, the company said.

Its total income rose from Rs. 19.2 crore in 1984 to Rs. 1,902 crore in FY 2025-26, according to the company.

“Institutions endure when leadership evolves with the times,” said Dr. Babasaheb Kalyani.

“Amit’s active engagement has made a significant impact on the Company’s growth strategy, and I am confident that under his leadership Kalyani Steels will build on its foundations and set new benchmarks for the industry.”

Dr. Kalyani will continue to offer his counsel to the Board, reinforcing the group’s vision of Nation Building through manufacturing excellence, the company said.
