New Delhi: Indian Railways has announced the operation of 380 Ganpati Special Train Trips for 2025, marking the highest number of services ever introduced for the festival season.
These special trains are being run to ensure hassle-free and comfortable travel for devotees and passengers heading to Maharashtra and the Konkan region during Ganesh Chaturthi.

Zone-wise Distribution of Ganpati Special Train Trips
For 2025, Indian Railways has allocated Ganpati Special Train Trips across different zones:
- Central Railway: 296 trips, the highest allocation, to serve Maharashtra and Konkan
- Western Railway: 56 trips
- Konkan Railway (KRCL): 6 trips
- South Western Railway: 22 trips
In comparison, 305 Ganpati Special services were operated in 2023, and 358 in 2024, reflecting the growing demand during the festive period.
Key Routes and Halts for Ganpati Special Trains
Ganpati Special trains on the Konkan route will cover important halts including Kolad, Indapur, Mangaon, Goregaon Road, Veer, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kudal, Zarap, Sawantwadi Road, Thivim, Karmali, Madgaon Jn, Karwar, Kumta, Murdeshwar, Udupi, and Surathkal, among others.
These routes are aimed at accommodating devotees traveling to their hometowns and pilgrimage sites.

Festival Timeline and Train Services Start Date
Ganpati Puja will be celebrated from 27th August to 6th September 2025. To meet the expected surge in travel demand, Ganpati Special Train Trips began from 11th August 2025, with services being progressively added as the festival approaches.
