Mumbai: Birla Studios has announced a strategic collaboration with Vodafone Idea Limited (Vi) to launch ‘Reel Se Real Star’, a first-of-its-kind, mobile-first acting talent discovery platform aimed at democratizing access to India’s entertainment industry.
Through this initiative, Birla Studios seeks to create a more inclusive and accessible pathway for aspiring actors across the country.
The new platform by Birla Studios is designed to eliminate traditional barriers such as geography, limited access, and lack of industry connections.
By leveraging digital infrastructure and mobile technology, Reel Se Real Star enables anyone with a smartphone to participate, making the talent discovery process more open and equitable.
Built on the belief that talent can emerge from anywhere, Birla Studios aims to redefine how opportunities are created and distributed within the entertainment ecosystem.

Ananya Birla, Founder and Chairperson of Birla Studios, said: “Talent does not always get the opportunity it deserves – and that gap has kept far too many aspirants out of the spotlight. With the reach of digital infrastructure today, Birla Studios’ creative vision, and Vodafone Idea’s strong national footprint expanding this platform beyond conventional access points, we have the ability to create access at scale. We have a real opportunity to rethink how industries open their doors.
‘Reel Se Real Star’ is our attempt to do that by building a platform where anyone, from anywhere, can be discovered, and opportunity isn’t limited by circumstance. Because ultimately, everyone’s talent deserves a real shot at being seen.”
By combining Vodafone Idea’s extensive digital reach with the creative and cultural vision of Birla Studios, the platform aims to build one of India’s most authentic and diverse acting talent pipelines.
The initiative is expected to connect untapped talent with mainstream entertainment opportunities.
Abhijit Kishore, CEO of Vodafone Idea, added: “Connectivity is most meaningful when it creates opportunity. ‘Reel Se Real Star’ breaks traditional industry barriers by bringing the audition room straight into the hands of the aspiring actors nationwide. Leveraging our robust network, expansive digital reach of over 200 million users and Birla Studios’ creative vision, we are democratizing talent discovery across India.
Our goal is simple: to ensure potential isn’t limited by geography and can be discovered from anywhere – be it the bustling metro cities or remotest of the villages. We aren’t just building a platform, we’re giving millions a real shot at their dreams.”

The Birla Studios initiative will allow participants to upload auditions directly through a fully digital, app- and web-led process, eliminating the need for intermediaries or referrals. This approach ensures broader participation and ease of access for aspiring performers nationwide.
At its core, Birla Studios is blending large-scale audience participation with professional mentorship. Participants in Reel Se Real Star will be guided and evaluated by reputed directors and leading creative professionals, ensuring both credibility and high standards of performance.
As part of the program, winners selected through Birla Studios’ platform will receive a breakthrough opportunity to act in a feature film, working alongside an established director. This initiative is expected to bridge the gap between raw talent and mainstream cinema.
The Reel Se Real Star program by Birla Studios is set to go live on the Vi app in the coming months. Interested participants can currently register their interest through the official websites of Birla Studios or Vi.
