Bengaluru: A new study by Counterpoint Research has positioned Bengaluru as the global leader in AI-powered city management, underscoring India’s rising influence in artificial intelligence adoption.
The 2025 Global AI Cities Index ranked Singapore as the world’s top AI city overall, followed by Seoul, Beijing, Dubai, and San Francisco.
Healthcare, Education, and City Management Drive AI Growth Globally
According to the study, healthcare has emerged as the number one global AI priority, with Seoul, Singapore, and Madrid leading initiatives in this sector.
Counterpoint analyzed 320 AI-driven healthcare projects worldwide, highlighting advancements in smart hospitals and clinics (34%), diagnostic tools (12%), and drug discovery (6%). Seoul took the top spot globally in AI + Healthcare, followed by Singapore and Madrid.
Education ranked as the second most significant sector for AI deployment. Counterpoint identified 290 AI initiatives in education, with Beijing leading the way.
From September 2025, Beijing will require AI training for all school students, while universities across the world are increasingly integrating AI into curricula and classrooms through tutor chatbots and personalized learning tools.
Bengaluru AI City Management: Ranks #1 Globally
City management was the third-most active vertical, where Bengaluru emerged as the global leader.
Counterpoint tracked 238 AI-powered city management initiatives, with applications ranging from traffic optimization (22%) to automated administrative decision-making (17%) and citizen-facing government chatbots (12%).
Bengaluru’s leadership in this category was attributed to its strong IT and software services infrastructure, placing it ahead of Tokyo and Seoul.
The 2025 Global AI Cities Index evaluated AI adoption across the top 100 metropolitan areas, reviewing more than 5,000 initiatives in public and private sectors, infrastructure readiness, university contributions, and startup ecosystems.
With AI becoming central to digital transformation, Bengaluru’s top ranking highlights India’s growing prominence in shaping smart urban governance and technology-driven city services.
