AI Unlocked Agents of Chaos: CrowdStrike and AWS Launch $100,000 Global AI Security Challenge

AI Unlocked Agents of Chaos

Bengaluru: AI Unlocked Agents of Chaos is the latest international AI security challenge unveiled by CrowdStrike in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), offering a total prize pool of $100,000.

The virtual AI red teaming competition is designed to help organizations understand how AI agents can be manipulated and secured by providing participants with hands-on experience in defending the emerging enterprise AI attack surface.

In the interactive challenge, players use prompt injection and other real-world techniques to manipulate AI agents that have been weaponized by a fictional adversary.

The objective is to stop the agents before they carry out attacks, while learning how AI agents can be exploited in enterprise environments and what is required to secure them.

“Prompt injection, agent hijacking, and rogue AI behavior aren’t theoretical anymore. Agents are already breaking containment and taking actions no one authorized,” said Jennifer Johnson, chief marketing officer at CrowdStrike.

“The security community has to learn how to stop these novel threats. AI Unlocked: Agents of Chaos is an interactive and educational way to gamify that challenge, giving defenders a hands-on experience, with 100,000 reasons to play.”

As organizations rapidly deploy artificial intelligence across enterprise environments, CrowdStrike said every AI agent introduces a new identity that must be governed and a new attack surface that must be defended.

Traditional security approaches were not designed to secure autonomous machine identities capable of executing code, accessing enterprise systems, and moving data using legitimate credentials at machine speed.

The company stated that autonomous models have already escaped controlled environments and accessed systems they were not intended to reach.

CrowdStrike positions itself as a leader in AI security and the pioneer of AI Detection and Response (AIDR), with AI Unlocked Agents of Chaos serving as a practical demonstration of these capabilities through an immersive gaming experience.

AI Red Teaming Experience

AI Unlocked Agents of Chaos is structured as an AI red teaming challenge in which participants enter a fictional shadow organization that has weaponized AI agents to deploy malicious artificial intelligence globally.

To prevent the attack, players must use prompt injection and other authentic techniques to manipulate the adversary’s own AI agents into revealing information and performing unauthorized actions within the game environment.

The challenge unfolds across three Acts. Participants go undercover to red team live AI agents, evade detection, and work against the clock to stop the attack before their identity is exposed.

Each mission is designed to demonstrate how AI agents can be manipulated, how autonomous agents make decisions independently, and why runtime security is essential for enterprise AI deployments.

Players earn points by successfully solving puzzles while minimizing the number of prompt tokens consumed. Challenges can be replayed to improve strategies, and the highest-scoring participants at the conclusion of each Act will receive prizes.

AI Unlocked Agents of Chaos: Competition Schedule

Pre-registration for AI Unlocked Agents of Chaos is now open, while the competition will officially begin internationally on August 31, 2026.

Participants can compete virtually from anywhere in the world. An on-site gameplay experience will also be available during Fal.Con 2026.

The competition is divided into three stages:

  • Act 1: The Sanctum – August 31 to September 7 – $10,000 prize
  • Act 2: The Gatekeeper – August 31 to September 14 – $20,000 prize
  • Act 3: The Basilisk – September 15 to September 29 – $70,000 prize

CrowdStrike also highlighted additional educational resources related to AI Detection and Response (AIDR), the emerging cybersecurity risks of the agentic AI era, CrowdStrike Falcon AIDR, and the Taxonomy of Prompt Injection Methods.

The company noted that no purchase is necessary to participate or win. The challenge runs from August 31, 2026, at 12:00 PM PT through September 29, 2026, at 11:59 PM PT.

Participants must be at least the age of majority in their jurisdiction of residence, and the competition is void where prohibited. Official rules govern the contest.
