Thiruvananthapuram: The Technopark engineering laboratory has received accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), making Technopark the first IT Park in the country to receive the recognition for its engineering laboratory.
The Technopark engineering laboratory has been awarded certification under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 for establishing facilities and meeting the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
Congratulating the officials and support staff on securing the NABL accreditation, Sandeep Kumar, IAS, CEO, Technopark, said the recognition makes Technopark the only IT Park in the country with a NABL-accredited engineering laboratory for ensuring quality and sustainable infrastructure development works.
Technopark had opened civil and electrical engineering laboratories at its Phase I campus last year.
The Technopark engineering laboratory is equipped to support testing and quality assurance for infrastructure and electrical works, including LT and HT materials.
“The facility is a testament to ensuring the standards and quality assurance of the construction and electrical works, including the LT & HT materials.
The lab has positioned Technopark to ensure the quality of its infrastructure works as well as providing necessary technical guidance to its co-developers,” the CEO added.
“This is a significant achievement for Technopark and the Engineering Department. The task was challenging and required sustained effort, dedication and close coordination as a team.
Through our collective commitment, we were able to successfully accomplish it. We now look forward to taking this momentum forward and working towards the next phase said Madhavan Praveen, Chief Technical Officer, Technopark.

The NABL-accredited Technopark engineering laboratory is expected to further strengthen quality control across infrastructure works undertaken by Technopark.
It will support informed engineering decisions, material-performance verification, compliance monitoring, and reliability in the delivery and maintenance of built infrastructure.
The laboratories have been designed as a hub for testing various parameters and assessing the quality of construction and electrical materials used in Technopark’s works.
The Engineering Department of Technopark has developed the Technopark engineering laboratory to conduct tests according to IS specifications and provide results in a timely manner.
Developers and companies located in and around Technopark can also use the laboratory to ensure quality and compliance with their construction specifications.
The electrical laboratory has provisions for repairing LED fixtures, drivers and other components. According to Technopark, these facilities could help reduce e-waste and cut costs.
The laboratory currently has facilities for testing concrete and construction materials across various parameters. The Technopark engineering laboratory is therefore positioned to support quality testing for a range of infrastructure-related requirements.
Rahul Thampi, Assistant Vice President (Civil), is heading the activities of the Civil Engineering Laboratory with the support of his team. The laboratory also features antique machinery on display, offering a glimpse into past technology.
