Pune: Team Vegapod Hyperloop, the official Hyperloop Club of MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), has brought international recognition to India with an outstanding performance at European Hyperloop Week 2026 (EHW 2026), held at the European Hyperloop Center in Groningen, The Netherlands.

Competing against leading engineering institutions from across the world, Team Vegapod secured 7th position globally and 6th position in Engineering Design, while also winning the Emerging Engineering Talent Award.

The achievement at European Hyperloop Week 2026 highlights MIT-WPU’s growing presence in advanced transportation research and innovation.

Team Vegapod Excels at European Hyperloop Week 2026

European Hyperloop Week 2026 is among the leading international student engineering competitions focused on Hyperloop technology.

The event brings together university teams from Europe, Asia, North America and the Middle East.

Participants at European Hyperloop Week 2026 are evaluated through rigorous engineering design reviews, subsystem validations, technical presentations, safety assessments and prototype demonstrations.

These evaluations are conducted by an international panel of industry experts and researchers.

Team Vegapod’s performance at European Hyperloop Week 2026 was driven by a series of engineering solutions developed to improve the performance, affordability and sustainability of Hyperloop systems.

Among its innovations is a Flat Linear Motor Propulsion System, designed to improve energy-efficient electromagnetic thrust.

The team has also developed a lightweight, low-cost modular chassis aimed at enhancing structural efficiency while simplifying manufacturing and maintenance.

Team Vegapod Builds Intellectual Property Portfolio

The team’s research and engineering work has also resulted in a strong intellectual property portfolio. Team Vegapod has four Indian patents published and one patent granted in Germany.

The innovations showcased at European Hyperloop Week 2026 reflect the team’s focus on developing engineering solutions for next-generation transportation while combining research, design, prototyping and testing.

11 Student Engineers Represent India

Representing India at European Hyperloop Week 2026, a delegation of 11 student engineers and two faculty advisors showcased MIT-WPU’s engineering capabilities while collaborating with researchers, technology experts and fellow innovators from across the globe.

The team’s achievement at European Hyperloop Week 2026 is the outcome of years of dedicated research, design, prototyping, testing and interdisciplinary teamwork.
