  • Air India Flying Academy in Amravati Receives DGCA Approval; to Train Pilots With 34-Aircraft Fleet

Air India Flying Academy at Belora Airport in Amravati

Pune: Air India has received approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for its Air India Flying Academy at Belora Airport in Amravati, Maharashtra, marking a significant step towards strengthening pilot training capacity in India and supporting the growth of the country’s aviation ecosystem.

The Air India Flying Academy is the first such academy established by an Indian airline in the country. The academy will operate a fleet of 31 single-engine aircraft and three twin-engine aircraft for pilot training.

Spread across 10 acres, the Air India Flying Academy will feature digitally enabled classrooms, student accommodation, a digital operations centre and a dedicated maintenance facility.

The infrastructure at the Air India Flying Academy is designed to provide aspiring pilots with world-class training facilities while maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.

The approval for the Air India Flying Academy comes as part of Air India’s broader commitment to developing aviation talent and infrastructure in India.

The Air India Flying Academy will complement the airline’s 600,000 sq. ft. training academy in Gurugram, which is the largest aviation training institution in South Asia.

Together, these investments in aviation training infrastructure are aimed at supporting India’s growing demand for pilots and contributing to the development of a more self-reliant aviation ecosystem.

With the academy at Amravati’s Belora Airport and its existing training infrastructure in Gurugram, Air India is strengthening its focus on developing aviation talent and expanding pilot training capacity in the country.
