Mumbai: The Department of Posts (DoP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Ltd. (MSSIDC) to strengthen and enhance the MSME competitiveness in Maharashtra.
This collaboration, launched under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme, is designed to provide institutional support, logistics solutions, and improved market linkages for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

The MoU to enhance MSME competitiveness was formalized in the presence of Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle, Amitabh Singh; APMG (BD), India Post, Dr Sudhir G. Jhakere; and Joint Managing Director, MSSIDC, Prashali Jadhav Dighavkar.
MSME Competitiveness to be Strengthened through RAMP Programme
Under the partnership, the Department of Posts and MSSIDC will jointly:
- Designate a Knowledge Partner under the RAMP Programme
- Enhance MSME awareness of postal and logistics solutions
- Provide reliable, affordable, and wide-reaching logistics support to enterprises across Maharashtra
- Strengthen market linkages for artisans, entrepreneurs, and small industries by leveraging India Post’s extensive network
Officials noted that this collaboration will help bridge existing logistics and knowledge gaps, thereby empowering MSMEs to expand both domestically and internationally.

India Post and MSSIDC’s Role in Enhancing MSME competitiveness
India Post, with its vast network of over 1.65 lakh post offices, is the largest postal system in the world. Beyond mail and parcel services, it also offers financial services such as small savings schemes, Postal Life Insurance (PLI), Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI), and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) schemes.
The MSSIDC, which supports nearly 30,000 small-scale units, continues to play a critical role in financing, aiding, and protecting small industries. It also contributes to the revival of traditional handicrafts and provides training, entrepreneurship development, and marketing assistance to artisans and entrepreneurs.
Strategic Step Towards MSME Growth
Representatives from both organizations, including Vipul C Mandlesha (India Post), Shatabdi Kumari (KPMG), and Rashid Rehan Siddiqui (KPMG), highlighted that this collaboration will create a stronger ecosystem for MSMEs.
The initiative is expected to enhance their competitiveness, resilience, and growth in the evolving market environment.
