Pune: Amazon India has announced the fifth edition of its Machine Learning Summer School (MLSS) – a flagship initiative aimed at equipping engineering students with cutting-edge skills in Machine Learning (ML) and Generative AI.
The 2025 program will train 3,000 students, selected via a competitive qualifying assessment, offering them free access to application-based learning over four weekends in August.
Since its inception in 2021, the Machine Learning Summer School has impacted nearly 10,000 students across India, providing immersive training led by Amazon’s top ML scientists.

Machine Learning Summer School: Curriculum Includes 8 Comprehensive Modules
The 2025 edition is open to students pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degrees and expected to graduate in 2026 or 2027 from recognized institutions across India.
The curriculum includes eight comprehensive modules covering Supervised and Unsupervised Learning, Deep Learning, Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and more. Students will benefit from live sessions, real-world case studies, and interactive Q&A segments with Amazon’s expert scientists.
“The Machine Learning Summer School is more than just a training platform – it’s a launchpad for building future-ready AI talent,” said Rajeev Rastogi, Vice President, Machine Learning at Amazon. “By democratizing access to high-quality education, we’re enabling India’s young engineers to lead innovation in ML and AI.”
Following its success in India, Amazon expanded the program globally, launching versions in Australia (2023) and recently in the EMEA region under the name Amazon Science Campus, reflecting Amazon’s commitment to a global AI talent pipeline.
Aligned with academic curricula and industry needs, the program also responds to a growing demand for AI skills in the workforce. According to an AWS-commissioned Access Partnership study, AI-trained professionals in India can earn up to 54% higher salaries, yet 79% of employers struggle to hire suitable talent due to a lack of accessible training.

“The Machine Learning Summer School helped build my understanding from fundamentals to applied concepts. The session on causal inference, in particular, stood out for its practical value,” said Naman Bansal, a 2024 program alumnus.
Registrations are open from July 21 to July 31, 2025, and selected candidates will join a cohort of forward-looking technologists preparing to drive India’s AI revolution.
Amazon’s MLSS is part of its broader mission to build a future-ready, inclusive tech workforce by offering transformative learning experiences.
