QS Global MBA and Business Masters Rankings 2027

Pune: The QS Global MBA and Business Masters Rankings 2027 has recorded a significant increase in the representation of Indian institutions, with 28 Indian institutions featuring across the rankings this year.

Only the United States, United Kingdom and France have more institutions represented in the rankings.

Released by QS Quacquarelli Symonds on September 16, 2026, the QS Global MBA and Business Masters Rankings 2027 covers 65 countries and territories and analyses more than 420 of the world’s leading global MBA programmes, alongside specialised Business Master’s programmes in Management, Finance, Marketing, Business Analytics and Supply Chain Management.

The QS Global MBA and Business Masters Rankings 2027 show that 19 Indian institutions feature in the Global MBA ranking, up from seven in 2022 and five in 2020.

The number of Indian MBA entries has therefore more than tripled over the seven-year period since 2020.

Three Indian institutions feature among the global top 100 in the 2027 MBA ranking: Indian Institute of Management Bangalore at 64=, Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad at 70= and IIM Calcutta at 95.

All three remain in the global top 100 despite dropping slightly amid heightened global competition.

In the specialised Business Master’s Rankings, more than 1,130 entries feature globally in 2027, including 41 from India, compared with 37 last year.

Across the overall rankings, 150 institutions are from the United States, followed by the United Kingdom with 42, France with 35, India with 28, and Canada and Spain with 24 each.

The QS Global MBA and Business Masters Rankings 2027 lists 19 India-based MBA providers. Five institutions make their debut in the MBA ranking this year, while six retain their respective positions from last year.

The remaining institutions recorded some decline in their rankings in 2027 as global peers improved in Entrepreneurship & Alumni Outcomes, Return on Investment and Diversity.

The top eight Indian business schools in the QS Global MBA and Business Masters Rankings 2027 are:

  • Indian Institute of Management Bangalore – 64=
  • Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad – 70=
  • IIM Calcutta – 95
  • O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) – 171-180
  • Indian Institute of Management (IIM) – Kozhikode – 201-250
  • Indian Institute of Management Indore – 201-250
  • Indian Institute of Management Lucknow – 251-300
  • Woxsen School of Business – 251-300

Indian Institute of Management Bangalore retains its position as the highest-ranked Indian MBA programme for the fourth consecutive year.

It ranks 64th in the QS Global MBA and Business Masters Rankings 2027, with strong performance in Employability, where it retains its 29th position globally and ranks second in Asia. It also rises slightly to 51st in Thought Leadership.

  • Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and IIM Calcutta also retain their places in the global top 100. Both rank among the top 40 for Employability and the top 100 for Thought Leadership.
  • IIM Ahmedabad remains the only Indian entry among the top 100 in Entrepreneurship & Alumni Outcomes, ranking 84th in that lens.
  • Woxsen School of Business ranks first in Asia in the Diversity lens and 33rd globally.

Among the five new Indian entries, O.P. Jindal Global University is the highest placed, ranking in the 171-180 range.

Other debutants are Jaipuria Institute of Management, School of Business and Management CHRIST (Deemed to be University), School of Leadership and Management, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies and Vikrant University Gwalior. All four of these institutions appear in the 301+ range.

Indian Representation in Business Master’s Rankings

The QS Global MBA and Business Masters Rankings 2027 also show an increase in India’s representation across specialised Business Master’s programmes.

QS ranks 41 India-based specialised Business Master’s programmes this year, up from 37 last year. These include 19 Master’s in Management programmes, seven Master’s in Business Analytics, seven Master’s in Finance, five Master’s in Marketing and three Master’s in Supply Chain Management.

Among Indian institutions, IIM Bangalore ranks 31st globally in Management, while IIM Ahmedabad ranks 46th and IIM Calcutta ranks 57=. IIM Bangalore also ranks 60= globally in Business Analytics, while IIM Calcutta ranks 96th.

The release notes that all Indian entries in the Finance ranking are outside the global top 200. In Marketing, all but one Indian entry are outside the top 200, with Woxsen School of Business ranking in the 151-200 range.

The three Indian entries in Supply Chain Management are all positioned in the 100+ range.

QS Global MBA and Business Masters Rankings 2027: India’s MBA Rankings Performance

QS President Nunzio Quacquarelli said the QS Global MBA and Business Masters Rankings 2027 show continued growth in the international reputation of Indian business schools, with five new entries from India this year.

“The QS Global MBA and Business Master’s Rankings 2027 show that more Indian business school are continuing to build their international reputation, with five new entries from the country this year.

“However, the MBA market is changing and providers are becoming more competitive. For Indian institutions this year, global peers are outpacing in key areas such as return on investment and entrepreneurship & alumni outcomes.

While 10 entries from India improve in the thought leadership lens in 2027, it is key that providers continue to serve MBA students and help them to achieve their career ambitions.

“Across the specialised Business Master’s rankings, global peers are also excelling in an increasingly competitive market. The picture for India is one of stability, while the UK is becoming the hub for master’s in finance and Europe is home to 18 of the top 20 master’s in management.

It is important that institutions benchmark their performances against peers to ensure they keep up and innovate in key areas that students and employers value.”

The United States dominates the top four positions in the QS Global MBA and Business Masters Rankings 2027. MIT Sloan ranks first globally for the first time, followed by Harvard Business School at second, Stanford Graduate School of Business at third and Penn (Wharton) at fourth. Overall, 133 entries from the United States feature in the 2027 MBA ranking.

The National University of Singapore Business School is Asia’s highest-ranked MBA provider, ranking 23rd globally for another year.

A total of 16 countries and territories across Asia feature in the ranking. Korea University Business School ranks 11th in Asia and is the highest-ranked institution in South Korea, while the University of Macau ranks 29th globally and is the top institution in Macau SAR.

IIM Bangalore ranks eighth among Asian MBA institutions with a global ranking of 64=, while IIM Ahmedabad ranks 10th in Asia with a global ranking of 70=.

Across Europe, Cambridge Judge leads 113 entries in the MBA ranking. The United Kingdom accounts for 32 entries, followed by Spain with 18, France with 12 and Germany with seven. Oceania contributes 17 entries, including 14 from Australia, two from New Zealand and one from Fiji.

Four institutions from the Middle East and Africa feature among the global top 100 MBAs in 2027. These include College of Business and Economics, United Arab Emirates University at 64th, Cape Town GSB at 89th, Qatar University – College of Business and Economics at 99th and Gordon Institute of Business Science, University of Pretoria at 100th.

Across Latin America, 21 entries feature in the Global MBA Ranking, led by Mexico’s EGADE Business School, which rises two places to 54th.

In the United Kingdom, 12 of its 32 MBA entries improve their position, while the specialised Business Master’s Rankings include around 174 UK entries, up from 161 last year.

QS Global MBA and Business Masters Rankings 2027: Specialised Business Master’s Rankings 2027

HEC Paris retains the top position globally across three specialised master’s programmes: Master’s in Management, Master’s in Finance and Master’s in Marketing.

The Finance ranking includes 286 entries, while 256 entries feature in Management and 214 in Marketing.

MIT Sloan ranks first globally for Master in Business Analytics, with strong performance in Alumni Outcomes and Return on Investment. The ranking includes 234 entries, of which 56 are new this year.

MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics leads the Master’s in Supply Chain Management ranking, taking the top position from Michigan (Ross), which falls to third.

MIT is among 41 new entries and records the strongest performance in Employability, Alumni Outcomes and Thought Leadership, while ranking third globally for Return on Investment.

The QS Global MBA and Business Masters Rankings 2027 methodology evaluates programmes across five broad areas: Employability, Value for Money, Alumni Outcomes, Thought Leadership and Diversity.

For the Global MBA ranking, these areas carry weightings of 40%, 20%, 15%, 15% and 10%, respectively.

Employability is measured through Employer Reputation and Graduate Employment Rate. Value for Money includes Return on Investment and Payback Month, while Alumni Outcomes covers Alumni Impact and Entrepreneurship.

Thought Leadership includes Academic Reputation, Research Impact and Staff with PhD. Diversity includes Women Faculty Ratio, International Faculty Ratio, International Student Ratio and Women Student Ratio.

The QS Business Master’s Rankings follow the same five broad areas, with the weighting changing according to the specialised subject area.
