Pune: The city of Pune is set to host the National Workshop on Advanced Legged Robotics (NWALR 2025) from May 8 to 10, 2025, at the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Auditorium, DRDO Complex, Pashan.
This pivotal workshop is being jointly organized by R&DE (Engineers), Pune and COEP Technological University, under the aegis of the Indian Society of Systems for Science and Engineering (Pune Chapter).
Focusing on Advanced Legged Robotics, including bipedal and quadrupedal robotic systems, the three-day workshop will bring together leading experts, researchers, industry engineers, and defence professionals to address technological advancements, challenges, and real-world applications of robotic locomotion across sectors like defence, security, healthcare, domestic services, space exploration, and manufacturing.
The event will feature invited talks from top researchers and industry leaders, offering insights into cutting-edge technologies and developments in legged robotics.
A specially curated proceedings volume with invited papers will be released to benefit attendees and further industry-academic collaboration.
Workshop on Advanced Legged Robotics
The workshop will witness participation from premier Indian R&D institutions including DRDO, ISRO, and DAE, as well as representatives from tri-services, academia, and private industry.
The platform is expected to foster innovation, knowledge exchange, and cross-sectoral partnerships in the realm of robotic systems.
The inaugural session will be presided over by Dr G Satheesh Reddy, Former Chairman of DRDO. Other eminent guests include Dr BHVS Narayana Murthy (Vice Chancellor, DIAT), Prof Prateek Kishore (Director General, ACE), Prof Sunil Bhirud (Vice Chancellor, COEP Tech), Ankathi Raju (Director, ARDE), and Dr Makarand Joshi (Director, R&DE[E], Pune). The workshop is convened by Dr S E Talole, Outstanding Scientist, R&DE(E), Pune.
This initiative marks a significant stride toward strengthening India’s capabilities in the evolving field of Advanced Legged Robotics.
