Bengaluru: India created history at the European Girls Olympiad in Informatics 2026 as the Sasken Technologies-backed national team secured the country’s first-ever gold medal at the prestigious international competition held in Italy from May 12-18, 2026.

Supported by Sasken Technologies in association with CodeChef, the achievement marks India’s best-ever performance at the global programming event and highlights the growing strength of the country’s competitive programming ecosystem.

The Indian contingent comprising Lyra Floyd Gonsalves from Mumbai, Swasti Patil from Pune, Mansi Sane from Mumbai, and Diya Sathishdev from Chennai delivered an outstanding performance at the European Girls Olympiad in Informatics 2026, setting a new benchmark for India’s participation in the competition.

The milestone was achieved through the Indian Computing Olympiad (ICO), India’s premier platform for competitive programming and algorithmic problem-solving.

The ICO serves as the selection pathway for international competitions, including the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), Asia Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO), and the European Girls Olympiad in Informatics 2026.
