Industry Academia Conclave 2026

Bengaluru/Pune: The Industry Academia Conclave 2026 was organized by MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), Pune, in association with the National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM), Karnataka Chapter.

Speaking at the Industry Academia Conclave 2026, Thyagu Valliappa highlighted the growing importance of industry-integrated learning models in improving employability outcomes among students.

He emphasized that educational institutions must move beyond merely responding to industry trends and instead anticipate future technologies and workforce requirements.

“The future belongs to institutions that can teach tomorrow’s technologies today. One-size-fits-all models will no longer work in education or skilling,” he added.

Discussions during the Industry Academia Conclave 2026 also highlighted the shrinking shelf-life of skills across sectors such as technology, electronics, semiconductor manufacturing, and advanced manufacturing, where rapid innovation is continuously transforming job roles and competency requirements.

Industry experts noted that organizations increasingly seek professionals who possess practical exposure, interdisciplinary capabilities, problem-solving skills, and adaptability in addition to academic qualifications.

Addressing participants at the conclave, Sanjay Mitra, Chairman of NIPM Karnataka Chapter, stressed that stronger collaboration between HR professionals and educational institutions is essential to ensure academic curricula remain aligned with evolving industry expectations and workplace realities.

The Industry Academia Conclave 2026 also featured insights from academia regarding the challenges universities face in keeping pace with technological transformation.

Prof. Prasad D. Khandekar, Chief Academic Officer of MIT-WPU, stated that educational institutions are under increasing pressure to redesign curricula and teaching methodologies to remain relevant in an AI-driven world.

“Industry expectations are changing faster than ever before. Universities today are not just preparing students for current jobs, but for roles that may evolve significantly over the next three to four years. This challenge can only be solved when academia and industry work together continuously,” he said.

Prof. Khandekar further emphasized that universities must focus not only on technical knowledge but also on mindset development, adaptability, experiential learning, and interdisciplinary thinking to prepare students for future workplace demands.

The Industry Academia Conclave 2026 concluded with a collective call for long-term partnerships between industry and academia, innovation-driven learning ecosystems, and collaborative skilling initiatives aimed at helping India build globally competitive, AI-ready talent for the future economy.

Participants agreed that sustained engagement between educational institutions and industry stakeholders will play a crucial role in ensuring workforce readiness and supporting India’s growth in an increasingly technology-driven global economy.
