Pune: TechEx.in, India’s leading Technology Transfer Hub housed at the Venture Center in Pune, commemorated World IP Day by organizing an impactful awareness session on “Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer: Best Practices and Learnings.”

The event brought together key stakeholders from academia, startups, research institutions, and government to foster innovation through robust IP practices and tech transfer strategies.

Held in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), and supported by BIRAC’s National Biopharma Mission and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), the session addressed the evolving needs of India’s innovation ecosystem.

“This World IP Day, we reaffirm that ideas must be protected, nurtured, and transformed into impactful innovations. Intellectual Property is the new currency of innovation and a cornerstone of Viksit Bharat 2047,” said Umesh Rathod, Indovation Manager, AICTE-MIC.

Dr. Premnath V, Director, Venture Center, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing IP’s strategic value for institutions and startups alike. “This platform enabled a knowledge exchange vital for accelerating research-to-market journeys across sectors,” he stated.

A panel discussion featuring Anand Bhadalkar (STBI), Rajneesh Kumar (BITS Pilani), Umesh Rathod (MoE), and Nitin Tewari (CSIR-NCL) explored institutional IP policies, licensing frameworks, and commercialization pathways.
