Mumbai: UPL, a global provider of sustainable agriculture solutions, has been recognised with the Best Patent Portfolio award in the Life Science & Agriculture category at the 11th Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Industrial IP Awards 2025.

The company was also named among the Top 30 IP Driven Organisations (Large Enterprises) at the awards ceremony.

The Best Patent Portfolio recognition was conferred as part of the CII Industrial IP Awards, which celebrate organisations demonstrating leadership in intellectual property creation, protection, and commercialisation.

The awards highlight the role of robust IP strategies in enabling business growth and contributing to economic development.

Best Patent Portfolio Recognition: UPL’s Innovation-Led IP Strategy

The Best Patent Portfolio honour underscores UPL’s sustained focus on building a strong, innovation-driven ecosystem that supports long-term value creation in agriculture.

The recognition reflects the company’s structured approach to intellectual property management across research, development, and commercialisation initiatives.

Commenting on the achievement, Dr Vishal Sodha, Global Head – IP, Product Registration, and OpenAg R&D at UPL, said that the recognition reflects the organisation’s commitment to becoming an IP-driven enterprise.

He added that the award serves as motivation to further advance farmer-focused sustainable innovations aimed at addressing on-ground agricultural challenges.

UPL currently holds over 3,000 granted patents globally, with approximately 4,400 patent applications pending, highlighting the scale and depth of its research-led innovation pipeline.
