The team performed a posterior exenteration with en bloc sacrectomy, a rare and complex procedure that required the removal of the rectum, uterus, part of the sacral bone (S4/5), and coccyx (tailbone). The surgeons also conducted a VY plasty vaginal wall reconstruction to preserve the patient’s functional recovery and post-surgical quality of life.

Successful Outcome and Excellent Cancer Response

Despite the scale of the operation, the post-surgical outcome was extremely positive. Histopathology reports revealed that the cancer had responded excellently to prior treatment, and all surgical margins were clear of disease.

The patient’s wounds healed successfully, and she has since returned to her hometown to continue maintenance therapy.
