Pune: PBMA’s H V Desai Eye Hospital intensified its efforts to promote eye donation awareness by organizing a special campaign in Pune during Ganesh Utsav, coinciding with the 40th National Eye Donation Fortnight (25th August – 8th September).
A dedicated team of doctors, technicians, and staff members from the hospital’s Eye Bank carried out an eye donation awareness walk through prominent Ganesh Mandals across Pune.

The initiative began at Kasba Ganapati Temple and continued to Bhausaheb Rangari Ganapati Mandal, Tambdi Jogeshwari Ganapati Mandal, Guruji Talim, Tulshibag Ganapati Mandal, and concluded at the iconic Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Mandal.
The hospital team was warmly received at each location by Mandal representatives and devotees, creating opportunities to share information on the importance of pledging for eye donation.
Eye Donation Awareness During Ganesh Utsav Celebrations
Carrying the message “Donate Eyes, Give Sight,” the campaign encouraged citizens to come forward and sign pledge forms. The team also addressed common doubts and misconceptions regarding the process of eye donation. To further extend outreach, the hospital distributed informative posters, brochures, and shared details about its eye care services.

Hospital’s Commitment to Eye Donation Awareness
The initiative underscored PBMA’s H.V. Desai Eye Hospital’s long-standing commitment to eye donation awareness and its transformative role in restoring vision.
The awareness activities were carried out under the guidance of Dr Shilpa Joshi, HoD and Superintendent of the Eye Bank, along with active participation from Dr Snehal Ghadge, Cornea Consultant; Satish Kurpad, Deputy Manager Eye Bank; Urmila Prabhune, Eye Donation Counsellor; Sushant Yadav; Manisha Pandhare; Nakul Kulkarni, and other technicians and staff members.
Through this initiative, the hospital reinforced its mission to inspire more citizens to pledge their eyes and contribute to the gift of sight.
