Central University of Tamil Nadu to Get Major Infrastructure Boost with INR 385.27 Crore HEFA Funding

New Delhi: The Ministry of Education has approved funding of ₹385.27 crore through the Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA) to support a major infrastructure expansion at the Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) in Thiruvarur.

The funding will enable the Central University of Tamil Nadu to establish state-of-the-art infrastructure, including a new academic block, expanded residential facilities, and advanced research amenities.

Central University of Tamil Nadu to Get New Academic and Residential Facilities

Among the major projects are:

  • Construction of a new academic building (₹96.40 crore)
  • 300-bedded girls’ hostel (₹46.63 crore)
  • 300-bedded boys’ hostel (₹46.91 crore)
  • A fully equipped Scientific Instrumentation Centre (₹19.95 crore)
  • Procurement of scientific instruments (₹16.84 crore)
  • Expansion of the administrative building (₹46.16 crore)
  • Residential quarters for faculty and staff (₹62.97 crore)
  • 400-bedded research scholar hostel (₹42.60 crore)
Boost to Academic and Research Ecosystem at Central University of Tamil Nadu

The establishment of a Scientific Instrumentation Centre, alongside the procurement of cutting-edge instruments, will significantly enhance the university’s research capabilities. The upgraded infrastructure is designed to provide a holistic learning environment, improve student and researcher accommodation, and strengthen faculty facilities.

The Ministry of Education confirmed that the HEFA-financed projects will be primarily serviced through grants, ensuring sustainability in long-term development.
