World Environment Day: CII Urges Sustainable Growth as BCSSL Advocates Green AI Infrastructure

World Environment Day

Pune: On World Environment Day, industry leaders emphasized the growing importance of sustainability as a key driver of economic growth, business competitiveness, and responsible development.

Representatives from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Blue Cloud Softech Solutions Limited (BCSSL) highlighted the need for collaborative action to build a resource-efficient and environmentally responsible future.

Marking World Environment Day, Vir S. Advani, Chairman, CII Western Region and Chairman & Managing Director at Blue Star Limited, stated that while Western India has emerged as a major contributor to the country’s economic progress, the region must now take the lead in promoting sustainable and resource-efficient growth.

“Growth, competitiveness and sustainability are no longer separate conversations. The businesses that succeed in the coming years will be those that are able to create economic value while managing resources responsibly,” he said.

Speaking on World Environment Day, Advani noted that industries across Western India are increasingly investing in renewable energy, cleaner technologies, and resource efficiency.

According to him, this trend reflects a growing recognition that sustainability has become integral to business resilience and future readiness.

He further highlighted the efforts of CII through CII-CESD and CII-IGBC in advancing climate action, green buildings, sustainable manufacturing, and low-carbon growth across sectors.

“Realising the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision will depend not only on how much we grow, but on how responsibly we grow. Sustainability must become a core business priority,” he added.

On World Environment Day, Advani also called for stronger collaboration between industry, government, and society to address environmental challenges and secure long-term economic prosperity.

Sustainable Digital Infrastructure Gains Importance

Ahead of World Environment Day, sustainable digital infrastructure has emerged as an important area of discussion as artificial intelligence adoption and data processing requirements continue to expand globally.

Industry stakeholders are increasingly focusing on designing data centres that not only deliver performance and scalability but also reduce energy consumption and water usage.

Blue Cloud Softech Solutions Limited (BCSSL) stated that building future-ready digital infrastructure requires a responsible approach that incorporates energy-efficient AI data centres, eco-friendly cooling technologies, and renewable energy integration through initiatives such as Blue Energy.

Sharing his views on World Environment Day, Mohan Krishna Pathalapati, Chief Operating Officer, Blue Cloud Softech Solutions Limited, said: “World Environment Day is a timely reminder to rethink how we build and operate digital infrastructure. As demand for AI and data processing continues to grow, sustainability must remain a priority.

At BCSSL, we are focused on developing energy-efficient AI data centres that incorporate eco-friendly cooling technologies designed to reduce water consumption and improve operational efficiency.

By adopting smarter, resource-conscious infrastructure and supporting renewable energy integration through initiatives such as Blue Energy, we aim to minimise environmental impact while building future-ready digital ecosystems that are powerful, resilient, and responsible by design.”

The observations made on World Environment Day underscore the growing convergence of sustainability, technology, and economic development. Industry leaders maintain that responsible growth, climate-conscious innovation, and collaborative action will be essential to achieving long-term prosperity while preserving environmental resources for future generations.
