  • Uppal Shah Receives JITO Emerging Entrepreneur Award 2026 for Sugar Industry Innovation

    Uppal Shah JITO Entrepreneur Award

Kolhapur, India: Uppal Shah, Chairman and Managing Director of JK India eAgriTech Ltd, has been conferred the JITO Emerging Entrepreneur Award 2026 (JITO Nav Udyojak Puraskar 2026) by JITO Foundation, Kolhapur.

The award was presented at a ceremony held in Kolhapur on October 27, 2026, recognising Uppal Shah’s entrepreneurial journey, innovative use of technology in the sugar industry and contribution to industrial development.

The award was presented by Ravi Sanghvi, Chairman of JITO Foundation, and Sanjay Ghodawat, Founder and Chairman of Sanjay Ghodawat Group.

The ceremony was attended by Rajeev Parikh, Chairman of JITO Foundation; Anil Patil, former Chief Secretary; Ravindra Devmore, Chief Secretary (2026-2028); Jitendra Shah, Founder of JK India eAgriTech Ltd.; and Whole-time Director Hemant Shah.

Having entered the business at a young age, Uppal Shah developed his understanding of the sugar industry through hands-on experience, market engagement and a practical approach to solving business challenges.

Over the years, he has focused on identifying gaps in conventional business practices and exploring how technology can make information, trade and industry collaboration more accessible.

Commenting on the recognition, Uppal Shah said, “Receiving the JITO Emerging Entrepreneur Award 2026 is a proud and meaningful recognition of our journey at JK Group. It reinforces our belief that traditional industries can create new opportunities through innovation, technology and a willingness to challenge conventional ways of doing business.

This recognition inspires us to continue building solutions that create lasting value for the industry and encourage the next generation of entrepreneurs. For us, the spirit remains simple: ‘Answer is YES, Batao Karna Kya Hai.’”

Under the leadership of Uppal Shah, JK India eAgriTech Ltd. has developed a business ecosystem bringing together sugar trading, digital marketplaces, industry news, market intelligence and knowledge-sharing platforms.

The company’s approach extends beyond conventional commodity trading by addressing the information and operational requirements of stakeholders across the sugar, ethanol and bioenergy sectors.

A key component of this ecosystem is eBuySugar, a technology-enabled B2B marketplace designed to facilitate online sugar trade.

The platform also provides associated services such as logistics, insurance and credit. eBuySugar reflects the company’s focus on applying digital tools to a traditionally relationship-driven industry and making trade processes more accessible to buyers and sellers.

The wider ecosystem associated with Uppal Shah and JK India eAgriTech Ltd. includes ChiniMandi, a news and information platform serving the sugar and allied industries; AgriMandi, which focuses on agricultural commodity market intelligence and research; and BioEnergyTimes, which covers developments across the bioenergy sector.

Beyond its digital platforms, the group organises flagship industry events such as SEIC (Sugar Ethanol and Bioenergy India Conference), along with other knowledge-sharing initiatives that bring industry stakeholders together to discuss market developments, policy changes and emerging opportunities.

These initiatives complement the technology-led businesses associated with Uppal Shah by encouraging industry dialogue and the exchange of information.

Together, the businesses reflect an approach that combines established industry knowledge with digital platforms and information-led decision-making.

An Entrepreneurial Approach Centred on Action

The entrepreneurial journey of Uppal Shah also highlights the role of practical learning and continuous adaptation in building a business.

Rather than following a conventional academic route, he developed his capabilities through direct involvement in the industry, learning from market participants and responding to real-world business challenges.

His philosophy, “Answer is YES, Batao Karna Kya Hai,” captures his approach to considering new possibilities and focusing on execution. It reflects a willingness to explore opportunities, challenge established practices and translate ideas into solutions.
