MoU Signed Between UPL University of Sustainable Technology and Oxford India Centre

Mumbai: UPL University of Sustainable Technology, an initiative of UPL Group, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Oxford India Centre for Sustainable Development (OICSD), Somerville College, University of Oxford.

The collaboration aims to strengthen knowledge exchange in sustainable food systems, climate change, and innovation-driven education.

Under this MoU, a select group of faculty members from UPL University of Sustainable Technology will visit Oxford annually from 2026 to participate in specialized training on curriculum development and research-based learning.

In return, experts from OICSD will deliver a dedicated seminar series for UPL students, covering subjects such as Artificial Intelligence, Sustainable Development, Climate Action, and Technology Innovation. For the upcoming academic year, two in-person and two online lectures are already planned.

Commenting on the collaboration, Jai Shroff, Chairman & Group CEO of UPL Ltd., said: “At UPL, we believe knowledge sharing and collaboration are key to solving sustainability challenges. This partnership with the OICSD will help position UPL University of Sustainable Technology as a hub for international academic exchange in sustainability and technology.”

Baroness Jan Royall, Principal of Somerville College and Executive Director of OICSD, highlighted: “Our renewed partnership with UPL strengthens the UK–India relationship and opens opportunities in climate-resilient agriculture, innovation, and environmental stewardship.”

Ashok Panjwani, President of UPL University of Sustainable Technology, stated: “This collaboration provides direct learning opportunities with Oxford’s OICSD and global participation for our students and faculty, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability-focused education.”

UPL University of Sustainable Technology Expands Global Academic Collaboration

The partnership builds on ongoing initiatives between UPL University and OICSD, which began in 2021 with the OpenAg Symposium. The 2024 edition of the symposium featured Sierra Leone’s President, Dr. Julius Maada Bio, as keynote speaker at the University of Oxford.
