New Delhi: The Network Planning Group (NPG), in its 98th meeting, evaluated seven major infrastructure projects across Railways, Roads, Logistics, and Textiles for compliance with PM GatiShakti’s vision of integrated multimodal connectivity, last-mile linkages, and a unified government approach.
The projects include one road/highway project, one Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP), three railway line developments, and two textile parks under the PM MITRA Scheme.
These initiatives aim to boost logistics efficiency, reduce travel times, and bring significant socio-economic gains to their respective regions.

Railway Projects Evaluated by the Network Planning Group
- Bakhtiyarpur–Fatuha (Bihar) Third and Fourth Line – Spanning 24.156 km in Patna district as part of the Kiul–Patna–Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction corridor, this project is set to enhance regional mobility, freight capacity, and connectivity for key industries including cement, power, automotive, and textiles. It will also benefit agriculture, tourism, and SMEs in the region.
- Tambaram–Chengalpattu (Tamil Nadu) Fourth Line – A 30.021 km addition to Southern Railway, this section will accommodate growing passenger and freight volumes, serving industries such as cement, thermal power, steel, and agriculture.
- Dongargarh–Gondia (Chhattisgarh/Maharashtra) Fourth Line – An 84.10 km project in the Energy Corridor, aimed at improving bulk freight operations, reducing congestion at Gondia Junction, and facilitating efficient train movement between major junctions.
For all three, the Network Planning Group recommended station infrastructure upgrades, enhanced passenger amenities, accessibility improvements, and supporting facilities like parking and evacuation roads.
Road and Logistics Projects Reviewed by the Network Planning Group
- NH-39 Widening (Madhya Pradesh) – A 54.2 km stretch from Rewa to Churhat Tunnel and Churhat to Sidhi, improving connectivity between eastern Madhya Pradesh and the state capital, supporting cement and coal freight from Singrauli.
- MMLP Hyderabad (Telangana) – A 315-acre logistics hub at Parkibanda village, Medak district, designed to handle 1.47 MMT of cargo annually from 2028, expandable to 19.98 MMT by 2070, with multimodal links via NH-44 and Manoharabad Railway Station.

Textile Projects Under PM MITRA Evaluated by the Network Planning Group
- PM MITRA Park (Madhya Pradesh) – Planned within the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor influence zone, offering complete textile value chain infrastructure, benefiting Dhar, Indore, Ratlam, Jhabua, and Ujjain districts.
- PM MITRA Park (Tamil Nadu) – A 1,052-acre facility in Virudhunagar with plug-and-play manufacturing units, CETP, STP, training centres, and social infrastructure to strengthen India’s global textile standing.
The meeting was chaired by Pankaj Kumar, Joint Secretary, Logistics, DPIIT.
