Pune: In a landmark initiative aimed at redefining urban living through sustainability, Hiranandani Communities and Krisala Developers have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI).
As the official knowledge partner, TERI will guide the development of a 105-acre integrated township in North Hinjewadi, Pune, with a focus on air quality, livability, and climate resilience.
This collaboration marks a first-of-its-kind sustainable real estate initiative in Pune, where environmental intelligence and community well-being are central to design and planning.
The township is also targeting the prestigious IGBC Green Township Platinum rating, positioning it as one of India’s most forward-thinking residential ecosystems.
“Sustainability is our foundation, not a feature,” said Aakash Agarwal, Managing Director of Krisala Developers. “With TERI’s guidance, we’re protecting the site’s natural assets while building a township that future-proofs residents’ health, environmental impact, and long-term value.”
TERI’s Role: Building a Climate-Responsive Township
- As part of its role, TERI will offer strategic inputs and continuous monitoring on:
- Air Quality Management Systems
- Biophilic Landscaping and Micro-climate Planning
- Energy and Water Efficiency
- Dust Suppression and Construction Resource Management
- EV Charging Infrastructure and Smart Utilities
“This initiative goes beyond compliance,” said Sanjay Seth, Senior Director of Sustainable Infrastructure at TERI and CEO of the GRIHA Council. “It embeds sustainability into the DNA of township design—setting the bar for future-ready real estate.”
Cross-functional Sustainability Implementation
A two-day workshop on May 22–23, conducted by TERI and attended by cross-functional teams—construction, MEP, landscaping, and design—focused on integrating sustainability tracking tools and actionable interventions for air pollution control and resource optimization.
Hiranandani Communities: Setting a National Precedent
The township will feature innovations such as real-time air quality monitors, EV-ready infrastructure, biophilic green spaces, and low-carbon construction practices—all designed to reduce the urban carbon footprint and elevate quality of life.
With this project, Hiranandani Communities and Krisala Developers are building not just homes, but a climate-resilient urban ecosystem—one that could serve as a blueprint for sustainable townships across India.
