Mumbai: Avio Smart Market Stack Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tripura to establish a state-of-the-art freeze-drying facility for fresh fruits and vegetables.
The project marks a significant step towards strengthening agro-processing infrastructure in the Northeast while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and improving market access for farmers.
Under the agreement, Avio Smart Market Stack will develop the project titled “A Freeze-Drying Initiative on Fruits and Vegetables for Tripura.”
The proposed freeze-drying facility is expected to generate direct employment for approximately 500 people and indirect employment for another 800, creating around 1,300 jobs in total.
The initiative also aims to build a stronger value chain for Tripura’s horticulture sector by enhancing the shelf life, quality and marketability of locally grown fruits and vegetables.
The freeze-drying facility is designed to address post-harvest losses through advanced freeze-drying technology, allowing farmers to preserve produce for longer periods while increasing value addition.
By improving access to premium domestic and international markets, the project is expected to enhance farmer incomes, reduce food waste and contribute to the long-term growth of Tripura’s agricultural economy.
The MoU was signed with the Government of Tripura during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026, an initiative focused on attracting investments and accelerating industrial development across the state.
As part of the conclave, the Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Tripura, organised a one-to-one interaction between Professor Dr. Manik Saha, Chief Minister of Tripura, and participating investors, entrepreneurs and foreign delegates.
During the interaction, Dr. Raja Krishna Murthy M, Head – Agri Tech Business, Avio Smart Market Stack Limited, received appreciation from the Chief Minister for the proposed freeze-drying facility project and the company’s commitment to strengthening Tripura’s agri-processing ecosystem.
The project further reinforces Avio Smart Market Stack’s commitment to technology-driven agricultural solutions aimed at improving farmer incomes, strengthening food processing infrastructure and promoting sustainable economic development through innovation-led value creation.
The company believes the freeze-drying facility will play an important role in enhancing agricultural value chains while supporting long-term growth in the region.
Dr. Raja Krishna Murthy Morla, Head – Agri Tech Business, Avio Smart Market Stack, said: “This project reflects our commitment to strengthening India’s agri-tech infrastructure at the grassroots level.
Tripura’s rich agricultural base, combined with the state government’s proactive support, makes it an ideal location for our freeze-drying facility. We look forward to working closely with local farmers and stakeholders to build a sustainable value chain for fruits and vegetables while bringing advanced food processing technologies closer to the source of production.”
