Mumbai: India’s manufacturing sector needs to move beyond assembly-led production and build deeper links with global value chains, with AI, automation, robotics and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) emerging as key drivers of the next phase of growth, industry leaders said at the CII National Conference on Advanced Manufacturing.
The CII National Conference on Advanced Manufacturing brought together leaders from industry, academia and government to discuss productivity, resilient supply chains, technology adoption and global competitiveness.
Rahul Garg, Chairman, CII Special Taskforce on Advanced Manufacturing and Founder & CEO, Moglix, said global buyers are increasingly looking beyond cost to reliability, traceability and resilience.
At the CII National Conference on Advanced Manufacturing, industry leaders including Rajnikant Behera, Executive Director, RSB Group; Mukund Vasudevan, President – Industrial Region (India, Southeast Asia & Middle East), SKF Group;
Parag Satpute, Managing Director & Group CEO, Greaves Cotton; and Datta Kuvalekar, Director & COO, Forbes Marshall, highlighted the need for measurable returns from technology, stronger industry-academia collaboration and greater focus on research and development (R&D).
The discussions at the CII National Conference on Advanced Manufacturing also highlighted the growing role of AI, automation, robotics and IIoT in strengthening manufacturing capabilities and supporting India’s next phase of industrial growth.
Deepak Karanjikar, Governing Council Member, MITRA, highlighted Maharashtra’s new Advanced Manufacturing and Frontier Technology Institute in Pune.
The CII National Conference on Advanced Manufacturing also saw Nitin Mittal, Vice Chairman, CII Pune Zonal Council and Founder & Managing Director, Knest Manufacturers, call for accessible technology and stronger support for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The conference discussions emphasised that technology adoption needs to be supported by measurable business outcomes, stronger collaboration between industry and academia, and greater investment in R&D.
With AI, automation, robotics and IIoT emerging as key areas of focus, the CII National Conference on Advanced Manufacturing underlined the importance of technology-led manufacturing, resilient supply chains and stronger global competitiveness for India’s manufacturing sector.
