Air India Codeshare Partnership Expands with Air Mauritius

Air India Codeshare Partnership

Gurugram: In a significant development aimed at boosting regional connectivity, Air India has expanded its codeshare partnership with Air Mauritius, enabling wider access to destinations across Southern Africa, Réunion, and Madagascar via Mauritius.

The Air India Codeshare Partnership announcement was made during the 81st IATA Annual General Meeting (AGM) in New Delhi.

Under the newly extended Air India codeshare partnership, the two national carriers will collaborate on 17 additional routes, enhancing flight options and convenience for passengers traveling between India and the African Subcontinent.

Seamless Travel to 17 New Destinations

As part of the expanded agreement, Air India will place its ‘AI’ designator code on Air Mauritius-operated flights to and from Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Antananarivo, allowing Indian travelers to book through-tickets with checked baggage directly to these cities.

This builds on the existing codeshare services between Mauritius and key Indian metros including Mumbai, Delhi, and Réunion.

Reciprocally, Air Mauritius will now place its ‘MK’ designator code on Air India-operated flights between Mauritius and Mumbai, further enhancing two-way connectivity between the two countries.

Air India Codeshare Partnership: Strategic Boost to Trade and Tourism

“India is among the largest tourism source markets for Southern Africa, and also a major trade partner,” said Campbell Wilson, CEO & Managing Director, Air India. “This expanded partnership with Air Mauritius aligns with our strategic vision to offer extended global connectivity to our passengers.”

Kishore Beegoo, Chairman of Air Mauritius, added, “With this agreement, passengers traveling from India can enjoy smooth onward connections from Mauritius to destinations across Southern Africa, and experience the vibrant Mauritian culture along the way.”

Tickets Available from July 1

The new codeshare flights under this expanded partnership will be available for booking starting July 1, 2025 across both airlines’ official websites and partner travel agents.

This Air India codeshare partnership agreement cements the growing collaboration between India and Mauritius in the aviation space, while offering travelers more flexibility, convenience, and access to emerging destinations across the Indian Ocean and African continent.
