Pune: Force Motors Limited has announced the roll-out of the 200,000th Mercedes-Benz engine from its state-of-the-art engine manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune, marking a significant milestone in its long-standing manufacturing partnership with Mercedes-Benz.

The milestone highlights more than five decades of association between Force Motors and Mercedes-Benz, reinforcing their shared commitment to engineering excellence, technological advancement, and manufacturing precision in India.

The partnership for Mercedes-Benz engine manufacturing began in 1997 and has since evolved into a comprehensive collaboration encompassing the production of engines and axles for all Mercedes-Benz cars and SUVs manufactured in India.

The production of the 200,000th Mercedes-Benz engine underscores a relationship built on trust, shared values, technological expertise, and a common vision to strengthen India’s automotive manufacturing ecosystem.

The landmark engine – a 6-cylinder M256 powertrain – was installed in a Mercedes-Benz GLS 450, making it the recipient of this milestone unit.

The occasion was commemorated at the Chakan facility in the presence of Prasan Firodia, Managing Director, Force Motors Limited, along with a distinguished delegation from Mercedes-Benz.

Prasan Firodia, Managing Director, Force Motors Limited, said, “As Mercedes-Benz continues to expand its presence in India, Force Motors remains committed to supporting its growth through best-in-class manufacturing, operational excellence and by contributing to the production of world-class automotive components in India.

The 200,000th engine is more than a production milestone; it is the living story of a half-century-long partnership built on trust, precision and shared purpose.

The Force Motors Chakan facility was purpose-built to meet Mercedes-Benz’s exacting global standards, and every engine that has rolled out of it, reflects Force Motors’ unwavering commitment to engineering excellence and manufacturing precision. To have honoured that commitment 200,000 times is a moment of profound pride for us.”

The achievement of producing the 200,000th Mercedes-Benz engine also reflects the broader significance of the Force Motors–Mercedes-Benz relationship as one of the most notable examples of Indo-German industrial collaboration.

At a time when global supply chains increasingly prioritise reliability, precision, quality and proximity, Force Motors’ capability to deliver German-quality engineering from Indian soil, aligned with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ vision, positions the company as a strong example of globally competitive manufacturing.

The milestone further reinforces Force Motors’ role in strengthening India’s position as a key automotive manufacturing hub while continuing to support Mercedes-Benz’s growth journey in the country through the production of high-quality Mercedes-Benz engine systems.
