Bhashini and AIM Sign Pact to Promote Multilingual Innovation in Startup Ecosystem

New Delhi: The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) under NITI Aayog has signed a Statement of Intent (SoI) with Bhashini, the Digital India Bhashini Division (DIBD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

The partnership aims to break language barriers and drive regional innovation across the country by embedding Bhashini’s language technology into AIM’s nationwide innovation ecosystem.

The strategic collaboration was formalized during a high-level meeting between Deepak Bagla, Mission Director of AIM, and Amitabh Nag, CEO of Bhashini. Together, the organizations will champion initiatives that promote multilingual innovation, support local entrepreneurs, and enhance access to knowledge resources for non-English speaking populations.

Bhashini – AIM Pact: Key Highlights
  • WIPO Academy content to be translated into multiple Indian languages using Bhashini’s AI-powered tools.
  • Startups and incubators will gain sandbox access to Bhashini’s language platforms for product development.
  • Language-inclusive innovation initiatives will be rolled out through Atal Incubation Centres (AICs), Atal Community Innovation Centres (ACICs), and Language Inclusive Program for Innovation (LIPI) centres.

Future plans include gamification of learning content and broader use of DIBD for skill-building at the grassroots level.

Speaking on the occasion, Deepak Bagla said, “This collaboration supports our mission to democratize innovation. Integrating language technologies into AIM’s ecosystem will ensure that language is no longer a barrier for aspiring innovators across India.”

Amitabh Nag added, “Our goal is to empower every innovator – regardless of linguistic background – with the digital tools necessary to succeed. Together with AIM, we’re working toward a more inclusive and connected innovation economy.”

The initiative underscores the Government of India’s commitment to creating a digitally inclusive India, where innovation is accessible in every language.
