ENGIE, a global leader in low-carbon energy and services, has achieved financial closure for its 250 MW Khaba Solar Project in Barmer, Rajasthan, marking a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to support India’s clean energy transition.
The Khaba Solar Project is being developed through Khaba Renewable Energy Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of ENGIE.
Once commissioned, the Khaba Solar Project is expected to generate approximately 650 GWh of clean electricity annually while helping avoid nearly 180 kilo tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year.
The project is also expected to create local employment opportunities during the construction phase and contribute to regional economic development in Rajasthan.
According to ENGIE, around 80% of the employment opportunities generated during the construction of the Khaba Solar Project are expected to benefit people from local communities, reflecting the company’s approach of promoting inclusive development alongside renewable energy expansion.
The Khaba Solar Project has secured financing from leading global financial institutions, highlighting continued confidence in ENGIE’s project execution capabilities as well as India’s rapidly growing renewable energy sector.
The financial closure enables the project to move into its next phase of development, with construction expected to be completed by Q3 2026.
