AFMC Pune: Driving Innovation in Military Medicine

AFMC Pune continues to set national benchmarks in medical research, diagnostics, and simulation-based training. In a major leap forward, the institution has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Genome Sequencing Laboratory, equipped with advanced Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) platforms.

This facility supports precision medicine in oncology, reproductive health, transplant care, and rare genetic disorders.

The Department of Medical Research (DMR) and Multidisciplinary Research Unit (MRU) are driving over a dozen projects exploring epigenetics in diabetes, microRNA expression, and gene polymorphisms in autoimmune conditions and cancers – strengthening the scientific contributions of AFMC to both military and civilian healthcare sectors.

Simulation-Based Skill Training for Future Combat Doctors

AFMC’s commitment to excellence also extends to medical simulation-based training, which is now embedded at all levels of its curriculum.

The college provides life-like scenarios to train students in trauma response, cardiac care, surgical and obstetric emergencies, and laparoscopic techniques—ensuring hands-on preparedness for real-world medical challenges.
