Bengaluru: The Unisys Innovation Program (UIP), a flagship technology competition for engineering students across India, announced the winners of its 16th annual edition, spotlighting game-changing innovations in healthcare, mobility, and remote diagnostics.
Organized by Unisys (NYSE: UIS), the UIP continues to foster innovation by connecting students with technology leaders to create scalable, real-world solutions.
The 2025 edition drew overwhelming participation, receiving over 890 project submissions from 12,760 registrants, focusing on eight key themes tied to critical business and industry challenges.
Winners of the Unisys Innovation Program 2025:
- 1st Place – RV College of Engineering: Awarded for their pioneering project titled “Quantum Neural Network for Brain Tumor MRI Classification via Quantum Machine Learning.” By integrating Quantum ResNet and Q-attention models, the team achieved 98%+ accuracy in diagnosing brain tumors from low-field MRI scans—an innovation aimed at improving diagnostic accessibility in underserved regions.
- 2nd Place – RV College of Engineering: Honored for “Electronic Differential for Electric Vehicles,” the project merges AI with vehicle dynamics, replacing traditional mechanical differentials. The smart system enables predictive, real-time wheel control to enhance traction, stability, and energy efficiency—a leap toward sustainable electric mobility.
- 3rd Place – Ramaiah Institute of Technology: Recognized for “Earbud-Based Electroencephalogram (EEG) Monitoring System,” a discreet wearable for continuous brain activity tracking. The device uses dry electrodes, AI-based seizure detection, and multi-modal analytics, addressing the rising demand for non-invasive neurological monitoring solutions.
“This year’s Unisys Innovation Program sets a new benchmark for creativity and technical excellence,” said Mike Thomson, CEO and President of Unisys.
“These innovations demonstrate India’s incredible pool of emerging tech talent, and we remain committed to empowering young engineers to lead in digital transformation.”
Chris Arrasmith, COO of Unisys, added, “UIP fosters a powerful ecosystem for young problem solvers to collaborate, compete, and create. These students exemplify the future of tech-enabled innovation.”
The projects were evaluated based on technical merit, innovation, feasibility, and impact potential, with the final judging round held during the program’s closing ceremony.
Launched in 2009, the Unisys Innovation Program continues to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry application, playing a pivotal role in building India’s future-ready tech workforce.
