Mumbai: Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Sales reached 201,723 units in Q2 FY27 across the domestic and international markets, compared with 144,397 units in Q2 FY26, registering a 40% year-on-year growth.
According to Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., the quarter ended September 2026 marked its highest-ever quarterly sales, supported by continued momentum in passenger vehicle demand and growing adoption of greener powertrains.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Sales Rise 40% in Q2 FY27
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Sales in the domestic market stood at 196,674 units in Q2 FY27, up 40% from 140,189 units recorded in Q2 FY26.
International business sales stood at 5,049 units during Q2 FY27, compared with 4,208 units in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year, marking 20% growth.
Overall, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Sales, including electric vehicles, stood at 201,723 units in Q2 FY27 against 144,397 units in Q2 FY26.
In September 2026, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles recorded total sales of 70,210 units, compared with 60,907 units in September 2025, representing 15% year-on-year growth.
Domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 68,810 units in September 2026, compared with 59,667 units a year earlier, while international business sales increased to 1,400 units from 1,240 units.
EV Sales Rise 90% in Q2 FY27
Electric vehicle sales were a key component of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Sales during Q2 FY27. EV sales across international and domestic markets reached 47,150 units, compared with 24,855 units in Q2 FY26, registering 90% year-on-year growth.
The company said EVs recorded their highest-ever quarterly sales during Q2 FY27. EV penetration in its portfolio rose to 23%, compared with around 8% for the industry.
In September 2026, EV sales stood at 15,384 units, compared with 9,191 units in September 2025, marking 67% growth.
The company said the EV figures include sales of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Sales: CNG Account for 28% of Volumes
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles said CNG also recorded its highest-ever quarterly sales in Q2 FY27 and accounted for 28% of its volumes.
Together, EV and CNG vehicles contributed 51% of the company’s sales during the quarter, reflecting the shift in customer preference towards greener mobility.
Commenting on the performance, Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., said, “In Q2 FY27, passenger vehicle demand sustained the strong momentum seen following GST 2.0, despite the quarter being seasonally softer.
Industry Vahan volumes grew around 24% year-on-year, led by increasing adoption of greener powertrains, providing a promising backdrop for the forthcoming festive season.
“For Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, Q2 FY27 was our highest-ever quarter, with sales of 201,723 units and industry-beating growth of 40% year-on-year.
We ended the quarter on a strong note, crossing the 70,000-unit sales milestone in September and look forward to carrying this momentum as we enter the festive period.”
Punch Emerges as Highest-Selling SUV
The company said customer response remained strong across its portfolio, with Punch emerging as India’s highest-selling SUV during the quarter.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles further strengthened its portfolio with the Curvv SeriesX, Sierra Legend Series and the all-new Tata Aeris, building on the momentum of its Q1 launches.
The company also unveiled its new customer-facing identity, TATA.CARS, reflecting the evolution of its brand in line with the aspirations of today’s Indian car buyer.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Eyes Festive Season
Looking ahead, the company said it remains optimistic about the festive season, supported by a strong order book and healthy customer traction across its portfolio.
Chandra said, “Our greener powertrain portfolio continued to be a significant growth driver.
EVs recorded their highest-ever quarterly sales of over 47,000 units, growing 90% year-on-year, with EV penetration in our portfolio rising sharply to 23%, compared with around 8% for the industry.
“CNG also delivered its highest-ever quarterly sales and accounted for 28% of our volumes. Together, EV and CNG now contribute 51% of our sales, reflecting the rapid shift in customer preference towards greener mobility.”
He added, “Customer response remained strong across our portfolio, with Punch emerging as India’s highest-selling SUV during the quarter.
Building on the momentum of our Q1 launches, we further strengthened our portfolio with Curvv SeriesX, Sierra Legend Series and the all-new Tata Aeris.
We also unveiled our new customer-facing identity, TATA.CARS, reflecting the evolution of our brand in step with the aspirations of today’s Indian car buyer.”
