BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition

New Delhi: The BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition is being held on September 11-12, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi to showcase India’s deep-tech innovations as a lead-up to and alongside the 18th BRICS Summit 2026, which will be held on September 12-13 under India’s BRICS Chairship.

The Union Ministry of Education, in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, is organizing the BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition to provide a platform for India’s deep-tech startups and ventures to engage with global stakeholders.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister of Education Shri Pralhad Joshi and Heads of BRICS delegations are expected to visit the exposition. Senior Indian and international delegates associated with the BRICS Leaders’ engagements, along with CEOs, investors and senior business leaders from BRICS member countries, are also expected to visit the BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition on September 11-12.

37 Indian Deep-Tech Startups and Ventures Participate

The BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition is showcasing 37 Indian deep-tech startups and ventures from the original cohort of 120 startups and ventures that participated in Bharat Innovates 2026 in Nice, France.

The exposition aligns with the theme of India’s BRICS Chairship, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”.

Bharat Innovates is a national programme of the Union Ministry of Education. It is designed as a global accelerator for innovations from the Indian Higher Education Ecosystem, with the objective of building long-term collaboration between India’s innovation ecosystem and global stakeholders.

The innovation ecosystem includes startups, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), laboratories and research parks, while global stakeholders include corporates, investors, incubators and accelerators, universities, research institutes, governments and overseas alumni.

The BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition at Bharat Mandapam marks the second major exposition of India’s deep-tech startups in 2026, following the maiden edition of Bharat Innovates held in Nice, France, from June 14-16, 2026.

Exposition to Facilitate B2B Engagements and Investment Discussions

The BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition is being held alongside the BRICS Business Forum on September 11, providing participating innovators with an opportunity to network with CEOs, investors, business leaders and industry representatives from BRICS member countries.

The exposition is expected to facilitate opportunities for B2B engagements, technology partnerships, investment discussions, business linkages and international market access.

The BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition also advances the BRICS Education Track priority of “Enhancing Research, Innovation and Start-up Ecosystems”, which is one of the five priority areas identified under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026.

For participating startups and innovators, the exposition offers a high-profile platform to convert domestic innovation into international commercial and diplomatic outcomes.

These include direct access to BRICS CEOs and investors, Head-of-State/Government visibility, B2B meetings and structured matchmaking facilitated in coordination with FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM.

The platform also provides participating innovators with opportunities to build brand and diplomatic credibility through engagement with business and government representatives from BRICS member countries.

Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi, Union Minister of Education Shri Pralhad Joshi and BRICS leaders are expected to visit the BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition.

Senior Indian and international delegates involved in the BRICS Leaders’ engagements, as well as CEOs, investors and senior business leaders from BRICS member countries, are also expected to visit the exposition during September 11-12.

The participation of Indian deep-tech startups and ventures at the BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition is part of efforts under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026 to strengthen research, innovation and startup ecosystems.

Bharat Innovates 2026 Maiden Edition Held in Nice

The maiden edition of Bharat Innovates 2026 was held under the India–France Year of Innovation 2026. It was jointly inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and President of the French Republic H.E. Emmanuel Macron.

The three-day event showcased India’s top 120 deep-tech startups and ventures across 13 thematic areas and 15 institutes, including IITs, IISc, BIRAC and iDex.

The event saw more than 2,000 participants from 29 countries. More than 30 collaboration MoUs and partnerships were forged during the event.

Indian startups and ventures also secured funding commitments of US $254.5 million following 1,350 B2B meetings.

Building on these outcomes, the BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition brings India’s deep-tech innovation ecosystem to the BRICS platform, with a focus on international engagement, partnerships and market access.

Ministry of Education’s BRICS Engagements

The BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition builds on the Ministry of Education‘s engagements under India’s BRICS Chairship 2026.

The Ministry hosted the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Meeting on August 7, 2026, and the 3rd BRICS Senior Officials’ Meeting on Education on August 5, 2026, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

The Education Ministers Meeting concluded with the adoption of the 13th BRICS Education Ministers’ Declaration, outlining cooperation across five priority areas.

These five priority areas include Strengthening Early Childhood Care and Education and Foundational Literacy and Numeracy; Skill Development and TVET; Research, Innovation and Start-up Ecosystems; Mutual Recognition of Qualifications; and Capacity Building for Academic Leadership and Institutional Development.

The BRICS Bharat Innovates Exposition, being held at Bharat Mandapam on September 11-12, brings together Indian deep-tech innovators and stakeholders from BRICS member countries alongside the 18th BRICS Summit 2026.
