Chennai: As India prepares to implement mandatory Electronic Stability Control (ESC) regulations for trucks, ESCsmart has secured a significant market milestone with ZF Commercial Vehicle Control Systems India Limited (ZF CVCS India) winning business nominations from three leading Indian commercial vehicle OEMs.
The multi-year programs cover truck platforms across both 24V and 12V architectures and are aimed at supporting upcoming vehicle platforms that comply with India’s new safety regulations.
Production of ESCsmart systems is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2027, with all products to be locally assembled and supplied from ZF CVCS India’s manufacturing facilities in India.
The announcement comes ahead of India’s Automotive Industry Standards (AIS) regulations, which will make Electronic Stability Control (ESC) mandatory for trucks from October 1, 2027.
As commercial vehicle manufacturers prepare next-generation platforms to comply with the new safety norms, demand for proven solutions such as ESCsmart is increasing across the industry.
ZF CVCS India said it has secured the business nominations from three major commercial vehicle OEMs for its ESCsmart Electronic Stability Control solution.
The programs span multiple truck platforms based on both 24V and 12V electrical architectures and are expected to run over multiple years. The systems will be assembled locally and supplied from the company’s Indian manufacturing facilities.
The upcoming ESC mandate marks a major shift in India’s commercial vehicle safety landscape. Electronic Stability Control is globally recognized as one of the most effective active safety technologies for reducing loss-of-control and rollover-related crashes.
Several mature commercial vehicle markets have already made ESC mandatory, and India’s implementation is expected to strengthen road safety, improve vehicle stability and support safer freight transportation.
As adoption accelerates, ESCsmart is positioned to support OEMs transitioning to the new regulatory framework.
