Chennai: Axis Account Plus, the new digital working capital management solution from Axis Mutual Fund, has been launched to help corporates and MSMEs seamlessly invest surplus funds in eligible debt and liquid mutual fund schemes.
Positioned as India’s first end-to-end digital working capital management solution, Axis Account Plus enables businesses to manage idle funds through a fully digital platform with built-in governance protocols, operational controls and a streamlined investment experience.
The launch comes as India’s mutual fund industry continues to strengthen its role in the country’s financial ecosystem while a substantial amount of corporate capital remains underutilised.
Nearly ₹25 lakh crore is estimated to be parked in current accounts, where it typically earns no returns. At the same time, India has over 31 lakh active corporates and limited liability partnerships (LLPs), along with more than 8.6 crore MSMEs registered on the Government of India’s Udyam platform.
Despite this large addressable market, participation by non-individual investors in mutual funds remains relatively limited, with institutional folios accounting for approximately 13.6 lakh folios.
This indicates an opportunity to simplify mutual fund access for corporates and MSMEs. Axis Account Plus has been introduced to bridge this gap by offering an entirely digital solution for working capital management.
Businesses often maintain surplus funds between payment cycles, receivables, working capital requirements and planned expenses.
Axis Account Plus allows companies to deploy these idle funds into eligible Axis Mutual Fund debt and liquid schemes through a convenient digital platform designed to improve capital efficiency while maintaining flexibility and operational governance.
As an illustration, if a company with a ₹100 crore balance sheet had ₹10 crore available as surplus working capital, it could deploy the amount through Axis Account Plus into Axis Mutual Fund’s debt and liquid schemes for one month.
Based on the historical performance of the Axis Liquid Fund, this may have potentially generated approximately ₹5.25 lakh over the month ended May 31, 2026, assuming a simple annualised return of around 5.85%.
Compared with keeping funds in a current account that earns no returns, Axis Account Plus enables businesses to potentially generate returns on surplus working capital.
These earnings may then be utilised to offset operational expenses and routine business overheads, thereby improving capital efficiency.
Past performance may or may not be sustained in future. Please refer Annexure 2 on Page 3 for the performance of the scheme in the SEBI-prescribed format.
