Pune: Hafeez Contractor School of Architecture has been launched by MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), marking a significant step towards redefining architectural education in India.
The new school has been established in honour of one of India’s most celebrated architects and Padma Bhushan awardee, Ar. Hafeez Contractor.
Widely regarded as one of India’s most influential architects, Hafeez Contractor has transformed the country’s urban skyline through several iconic residential, commercial, institutional and township projects spanning more than four decades.
Recognised for his contemporary design philosophy, expertise in large-scale planning and enduring contribution to Indian architecture, his work has become synonymous with excellence, innovation and visionary thinking.
Drawing inspiration from this legacy, the Hafeez Contractor School of Architecture aims to provide students with an industry-aligned and future-focused learning ecosystem that blends architectural design excellence with sustainability, technological innovation and hands-on practical experience.
The school’s flagship Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) programme is a five-year professional degree designed in accordance with the guidelines of the Council of Architecture (CoA) and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The studio-based curriculum integrates architectural design, building sciences, digital technologies, research, professional practice and sustainability, ensuring students receive a comprehensive architectural education.
Students enrolling at the Hafeez Contractor School of Architecture will have access to advanced infrastructure, including modern design studios, climatology and surveying laboratories, material museums and digital design facilities.
The programme also offers exposure to Building Information Modelling (BIM), computational design and immersive technologies.
In addition, students will benefit from interdisciplinary learning opportunities, international design studios, industry mentorship, live projects and mandatory internships.
These initiatives are designed to equip graduates with strong technical expertise and professional competence while preparing them for evolving industry requirements.
