  • Shree Refrigerations Expands Manufacturing Capacity with New Defence HVAC&R Plant in Maharashtra

Shree Refrigerations Limited Facility in Karad

Mumbai: Shree Refrigerations Limited (SRL), one of India’s leading defence-focused manufacturers of advanced refrigeration and HVAC systems, has inaugurated a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Karad, Maharashtra, marking a major milestone in strengthening India’s indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem.

The new Shree Refrigerations facility was inaugurated on Saturday by Vice Admiral B. Sivakumar, AVSM, VSM, Chief of Materiel, Indian Navy.

The expansion is aimed at enhancing domestic manufacturing capabilities for defence and marine HVAC&R solutions in line with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives.

Developed across more than six acres, the advanced facility features modern manufacturing technologies including robotic welding, laser cutting, bending machines, and backward integration processes such as shot blasting and painting.

With this expansion, Shree Refrigerations has increased its manufacturing footprint by 50,000 square feet, with provisions to add another 50,000 square feet to support future growth requirements.

The new facility has also been developed in accordance with the standards of the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), reflecting Shree Refrigerations’ commitment to sustainable industrial development.

Speaking at the inauguration, Vice Admiral B. Sivakumar, AVSM, VSM, Chief of Materiel, Indian Navy, underscored the importance of strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities in alignment with the Government of India’s self-reliance vision.

He noted that investments in modern manufacturing infrastructure such as the new Shree Refrigerations plant contribute significantly to building a robust indigenous supply chain while supporting the nation’s long-term growth, particularly in the marine and defence sectors.

Expressing his gratitude, R. G. Shende, Chairman and Managing Director of Shree Refrigerations Limited, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering innovative, reliable, and high-quality solutions for defence, marine, and industrial applications.

He also highlighted SRL’s continued focus on providing comprehensive and robust service support to customers.

“The new facility marks a significant milestone in the company’s journey towards strengthening indigenous manufacturing capabilities in line with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. In the initial phase of the new facility, our focus will be on improving efficiency and strengthening the supply chain.

This will improve manufacturing time and reduce logistical delays. The facility will also contribute to local employment generation and support the growth of the domestic manufacturing ecosystem,” Shende said.

With nearly 35 years of experience in the refrigeration industry, Shree Refrigerations transitioned into the defence sector less than a decade ago.

Supported by niche technology, dependable manufacturing capabilities, and strong after-sales service, the company has witnessed significant growth in recent years.

The company was listed on the stock exchange on August 1, 2025. Recently, Shree Refrigerations reported strong operational and financial performance during H2FY26 and FY26.

Revenues grew by over 100 per cent on both a year-on-year and half-year-on-half-year basis during H2FY26, while FY26 revenues increased by more than 50 per cent year-on-year.

The growth was driven by improved execution capabilities, higher project completion rates, and operating leverage benefits.

Guided by its philosophy, “We don’t just Manufacture Products, we Manufacture Pride,” Shree Refrigerations continues to strengthen its position as a key contributor to India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat mission by delivering world-class indigenous solutions for critical sectors such as defence and marine.
