Pune: The BFI-BIOME Fellowship at Venture Center has invited applications from aspiring health-tech innovators seeking to transform promising ideas into impactful healthcare solutions.
Designed to catalyze innovation in India’s healthcare ecosystem, the BFI-BIOME Fellowship offers participants mentorship, curated learning opportunities, access to a thriving innovation network, and a monthly stipend of up to ₹50,000 for a period of six months.
Applications for the current cohort are open until 25 June 2026, providing innovators with an opportunity to develop technologies that address pressing healthcare challenges while benefiting from an ecosystem focused on research, collaboration, and commercialization.
The BFI-BIOME Fellowship is targeted at passionate individuals looking to work on healthcare innovations across multiple domains, including diagnostics, medical devices, digital health, therapeutics, preventives, and rehabilitation.
Fellows will also gain access to healthcare partners, fundraising opportunities, workshops, talks, discounted services, and intensive mentoring throughout the six-month program.
According to the program details, eligible applicants should possess a minimum qualification of graduation in Science, Engineering, Medicine, or allied disciplines.
Selected fellows can receive a monthly stipend of up to ₹50,000 while working within Venture Center’s healthcare innovation ecosystem.

In parallel, Venture Center has also announced applications for the BFI-BIOME Kickstarter Initiatives (Cohort 3), aimed at supporting deep-tech healthcare startups operating at the Proof-of-Concept (POC) stage.
The initiative is designed to help startups accelerate technology development, reduce risks, and move closer to real-world deployment through access to specialized technical and business support.
The BFI-BIOME Fellowship complements the Kickstarter Initiative by nurturing individual innovators while the startup-focused program provides assistance worth up to ₹10 lakhs for eligible projects.
The Kickstarter Initiative supports activities such as modelling and design services, fabrication and assembly, testing as per standards, animal studies, limited clinical trials, IP and patent filing services, pitch deck development, regulatory support, prototyping, analytical validation services, and participation in trade shows and clinical conferences.
Execution of projects under the Kickstarter Initiative will involve the proposing startup along with Venture Center’s service arm or associated service providers, contractors, or consultants.
The BFI-BIOME Fellowship also offers participants a collaborative environment that includes access to a vibrant community of innovators and healthcare stakeholders.
By combining mentorship, ecosystem access, and financial assistance, the program seeks to encourage the development of technologies capable of addressing societal healthcare needs.
The indicative focus areas for the fellowship include innovations in diagnostics, medical devices, digital health platforms, therapeutics, preventive healthcare technologies, and rehabilitation solutions.
Through curated workshops and engagement with healthcare partners, fellows can further strengthen their ideas and prepare them for future fundraising and commercialization opportunities.
Meanwhile, startups participating in the BFI-BIOME Kickstarter Initiatives can leverage support services valued at up to ₹10 lakhs to validate technologies, strengthen intellectual property portfolios, undertake prototyping and regulatory processes, and advance toward practical implementation.
Applications for both the BFI-BIOME Fellowship and the BFI-BIOME Kickstarter Initiatives close on 25 June 2026, offering innovators and startups an opportunity to accelerate healthcare innovation in India through Venture Center’s collaborative ecosystem.
