Chennai: The Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Southern Brittany on 04 March 2026, marking a significant milestone in strengthening international academic engagement.
The agreement reinforces the Central University of Tamil Nadu’s commitment to expanding its global partnerships and enhancing research and academic mobility.
The MoU between the Central University of Tamil Nadu and the French institution was formally signed at the CUTN campus in Thiruvarur.
The agreement was signed by Prof. R. Thirumurugan, Registrar, CUTN, and Prof. David Menier, President, University of Southern Brittany, in the presence of Prof. M. Krishnan, Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Tamil Nadu.

This partnership establishes a structured framework for academic and scientific cooperation between the Central University of Tamil Nadu and the French university for a period of three years.
Central University of Tamil Nadu: Exchange of Faculty Members and Students
The MoU outlines a range of joint initiatives, including collaborative research projects and joint academic publications aimed at fostering innovation and scholarly excellence.
A primary objective of the agreement is to facilitate the exchange of faculty members and students between the Central University of Tamil Nadu and the University of Southern Brittany.
The initiative is designed to provide students and researchers with international exposure, encouraging cross-cultural academic learning and knowledge exchange.
Beyond academic mobility, the Central University of Tamil Nadu partnership will support the organisation of international conferences, workshops, and specialised training programmes.
The MoU also promotes systematic sharing of academic materials, research resources, and institutional expertise to strengthen research capabilities at both institutions.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. M. Krishnan stated that the collaboration would help develop the exchange of ideas and global perspectives. He added that such innovative practices are essential for strengthening scientific research and maintaining academic excellence at the Central University of Tamil Nadu.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. David Menier observed that the agreement reflects a shared commitment to enhancing academic and research mobility between France and India.

Senior university officers were present during the signing ceremony at the CUTN, including CA G R Giridharan, Finance Officer; Prof. Sulochana Shekhar, Controller of Examinations; Dr R. Parameshwaran, Librarian; along with several faculty members.
