New Delhi: GSLV-F17, the 19th flight of India’s Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV), has successfully placed EOS-05, a state-of-the-art Earth observation spacecraft, into a Sub-Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (Sub-GTO).
The launch was planned from the Second Launch Pad (SLP) at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, SHAR.
The GSLV-F17 vehicle carried EOS-05, an Earth observation satellite described as India’s first-ever imaging satellite from Geosynchronous orbit.
The mission marks another achievement for India’s space programme and highlights the growing capabilities of the country’s space sector.
The GSLV-F17 configuration features a 4-metre diameter Ogive composite payload fairing. As the 19th flight of the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle, GSLV-F17 has been deployed for the launch of EOS-05 into a Sub-Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today hailed the successful GSLV-F17 launch as another outstanding achievement by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), describing it as a proud moment for the nation.
The Prime Minister stated that the successful launch of GSLV-F17 carrying EOS-05, India’s first-ever imaging satellite from Geosynchronous orbit, reflects the excellence, innovation and growing capabilities that define India’s space sector.
Modi further noted that the growing partnership between ISRO and the Indian industry is adding new strength and scale to India’s space programme.
According to the Prime Minister, this partnership is also expanding India’s capabilities across the entire space ecosystem.
