Ahmedabad: Motherson has inaugurated a world-class automotive lighting manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat, further strengthening Motherson’s capabilities in advanced automotive component manufacturing.
Established as a strategic joint venture with Marelli, the new plant is dedicated exclusively to producing cutting-edge exterior lighting systems for the Indian automotive market.
The newly launched automotive lighting facility spans 8,200 square meters and utilises the latest manufacturing technologies to address the rising demand for premium lighting solutions.
The facility marks a significant milestone for Motherson, becoming the first plant in India capable of manufacturing edge-to-edge single-piece long lighting parts.
The production is powered by high-tonnage multi-colour moulding machines ranging from 2,000T to 2,700T, enabling advanced design precision and manufacturing scale.
With this new facility, Motherson has achieved several industry-first milestones in India.

The plant localises the production of the slimmest headlamp module in the country, while also enabling the first single-piece, end-to-end Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and Rear Combination Lamps (RCL).
These advancements further strengthen the company’s position in delivering next-generation automotive lighting technologies tailored to evolving customer requirements.
In alignment with its sustainability goals, the company has equipped the Sanand plant with rooftop solar power infrastructure. The company also has plans underway to source open-access green power, reinforcing Motherson’s commitment to environmentally responsible manufacturing practices.
