SAF One to Deploy Honeywell UOP Ecofining Process with Tata Projects as EPC Partner

Honeywell UOP Ecofining

New Delhi: Honeywell has announced a strategic collaboration with SAF One Energy Management Limited and Tata Projects Limited to advance sustainable aviation fuel production using Honeywell UOP Ecofining process technology.

The collaboration is aimed at supporting global aviation decarbonization through the production of HEFA-based sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

Under the agreement, SAF One will deploy Honeywell UOP Ecofining process technology to convert waste-based feedstocks into SAF, while Tata Projects Limited (TPL), the Tata Group’s engineering and construction arm, has been appointed as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partner for the project.

Honeywell and TPL will jointly deliver an integrated solution aligned with SAF One’s project requirements.

Honeywell UOP Ecofining Process Technology Enables HEFA-Based SAF Production

The Honeywell UOP Ecofining process technology, developed in collaboration with Eni S.p.A., is designed to offer a capital- and cost-efficient pathway for processing waste fats, oils, and greases into renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel.

The Honeywell UOP Ecofining process technology supports a broad range of feedstocks, including used cooking oil (UCO) and other waste oils and fats, enabling flexibility in response to market conditions and feedstock availability.

This collaboration represents a key milestone in SAF One’s strategy to develop multiple SAF production units globally, including a planned facility in India.

By leveraging Honeywell UOP’s Ecofining process technology, SAF One aims to support the aviation sector in reducing lifecycle emissions and progressing toward long-term decarbonization goals.

Rajesh Gattupalli, President, Honeywell UOP, stated that the Ecofining process technology expands the feedstock base for SAF and enhances economic feasibility through continuous advancements in process engineering.

He added that the deployment of the technology with SAF One and Tata Projects demonstrates Honeywell’s leadership in enabling SAF production at scale.
