New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level roundtable with Indian AI Start-Ups at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, bringing together leading innovators shaping the country’s artificial intelligence ecosystem ahead of the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

The roundtable was attended by 12 Indian AI start-ups that have qualified under the Foundation Model Pillar of the upcoming Summit. These Indian AI Start-Ups presented their ideas, technological capabilities, and ongoing work across a wide range of advanced AI applications.

Indian AI Start-Ups showcase innovation across key sectors

The participating AI Start-Ups are working in diverse domains such as Indian language foundation models, multilingual large language models (LLMs), speech-to-text, text-to-audio, and text-to-video technologies.

Their work also spans 3D content generation using generative AI for e-commerce, marketing, and personalised content creation, as well as engineering simulations, material research, advanced data analytics, healthcare diagnostics, and medical research.

During the interaction, the Indian AI Start-Ups commended India’s strong commitment to advancing the artificial intelligence ecosystem. They highlighted the rapid growth and vast future potential of the AI sector, observing that the centre of gravity of AI innovation and deployment is increasingly shifting towards India.

The founders and leaders noted that India now offers a robust and enabling environment for AI development, firmly placing the country on the global AI map.

The Prime Minister emphasised the transformative role of artificial intelligence in society and noted that India will host the India AI Impact Summit 2026 next month, positioning the country as a key global contributor to the technology sector.

He highlighted ongoing efforts to leverage AI as a catalyst for large-scale transformation across sectors.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi described startups and AI entrepreneurs as the co-architects of India’s future, underlining the country’s immense capacity for innovation as well as large-scale implementation.

He stated that India should present a distinctive AI model to the world that reflects the vision of “Made in India, Made for the World.”

Emphasising trust as India’s greatest strength, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of ensuring that Indian AI models are ethical, unbiased, transparent, and grounded in strong data privacy principles.

He encouraged start-ups to work towards global leadership from India, while promoting affordable AI, inclusive AI, and frugal innovation on the global stage. He also suggested that Indian AI models should promote local and indigenous content and strengthen the use of regional languages.

The Prime Minister assured the start-ups of full government support to ensure the success and global competitiveness of their AI models.

Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada were also present.
