DRDO RRU MoU Signed to Boost Defence and Internal Security Research

New Delhi: The DRDO RRU MoU marks a significant step towards strengthening collaboration in research, education, training, and technology support for defence and internal security.

The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on December 22, 2025, at South Block, New Delhi, in the presence of Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh.

The MoU was signed by Distinguished Scientist and Director General (Production Coordination & Services Interaction), DRDO, Dr Chandrika Kaushik, and Vice Chancellor of RRU, Prof (Dr) Bimal N Patel.

Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO, Dr Samir V Kamat, was also present during the signing ceremony.

DRDO RRU MoU Aligned with Aatmanirbhar Bharat Vision

The DRDO RRU MoU aims to enhance India’s self-reliance in defence and internal security technologies, in line with the national vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and the whole-of-nation approach during Amrit Kaal.

The agreement reflects a shared commitment to integrating technological capabilities, academic knowledge, and operational insights to strengthen national security preparedness and strategic autonomy.

Rashtriya Raksha University, an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs and the UGC-designated Nodal Centre for Defence Studies, contributes strong academic, training, and policy expertise in internal security.

DRDO, as India’s premier defence research and development organisation, brings indigenous technologies and system-level expertise to address the operational requirements of the Armed Forces and internal security agencies.

Scope of Collaboration Under the DRDO RRU MoU

Under the DRDO RRU MoU, both institutions will undertake joint research projects, PhD and fellowship programmes, and specialised training and capacity-building initiatives for security forces.

The collaboration will also include studies on emerging operational challenges, technology gap analysis, forecasting of future requirements, and life-cycle management of DRDO-developed systems inducted into Central Armed Police Forces and other agencies under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
