Satyakam Arya Appointed President and CEO of Hino Motors, Effective April 2026

Chennai: Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has announced the appointment of Satyakam Arya as President and Chief Executive Officer of Hino Motors, effective April 1, 2026, subject to necessary board and shareholder approvals.

In his new role, Satyakam Arya will oversee Hino Motors’ global operations from Tokyo, Japan. This strategic leadership transition aligns with the planned integration of Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino Motors, led jointly by Daimler Truck and Toyota Motor Corporation, under the forthcoming ARCHION operations framework.

Achim Puchert, Member of the Board of Management, Daimler Truck Holding AG, praised Arya’s tenure at DICV, stating, “Satyakam has been an exceptional leader, demonstrating strategic foresight and a strong commitment to operational excellence and customer success. His ability to drive large-scale transformation makes him ideal for leading Hino Motors through its next growth phase.”

During Arya’s leadership, DICV achieved record profitability across its truck and bus portfolio while doubling its customer base and expanding BharatBenz’s dealership footprint from 182 to over 385 locations across India.

DICV also became India’s first commercial vehicle manufacturer to transition fully to renewable energy and earned the IGBC Green Factory Building V2 certification, establishing new benchmarks in sustainability.

Innovation remained a cornerstone of Arya’s leadership as DICV introduced EU-standard ECE R29-03 compliant cabins, TorqShift (AMT) tippers, and the HX Series, while smoothly transitioning to BS VI OBD2 norms. His focus on diversity, inclusion, and total quality management further strengthened DICV’s organizational culture through initiatives such as the ‘BharatBenz Way’.

Arya’s appointment underlines the strategic significance of the Mitsubishi Fuso–Hino Motors integration, reaffirming Daimler and Toyota’s shared commitment to uniting operational excellence and global best practices.

This move also marks a return to Japan for Arya, who previously spent four years with Daimler Truck Asia, where he was instrumental in leading transformation initiatives.
