Drone Type Certifications: Over 50 Applications Processed Under NTH Program

New Delhi: Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and New & Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, will formally award DGCA-approved drone type certifications recommended by the National Test House (NTH), Ghaziabad, at an event scheduled for September 10, 2025, in New Delhi.

As part of the Certification Scheme for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), NTH (NR), Ghaziabad has been provisionally approved by the Quality Council of India (QCI) as a Certification Body for drone type certifications.

This development supports the Government of India’s Drone Rules 2021, which aim to build a robust, safe, and internationally competitive drone ecosystem.

Over 50 Drone Applications Processed by NTH

Fulfilling its certification mandate, NTH has already evaluated more than 50 applications submitted by Indian drone manufacturers. Following a transparent and rigorous evaluation process, two drone models recommended by NTH have successfully secured Type Certification from DGCA, highlighting NTH’s role in upholding standards of safety, reliability, and quality within India’s drone sector.

Drone Type Certifications: Affordable Certification at ₹4.2 Lakh

National Test House is offering drone type certifications at an industry-low fee of ₹4.2 lakh. This cost-effective structure underscores NTH’s commitment to fostering innovation and enabling Indian drone manufacturers to compete effectively in domestic and global markets. Certification from a trusted government body further strengthens manufacturers’ credibility and marketability.
