Mumbai: Waves Film Bazaar, South Asia’s largest film market and a vital part of India’s global film outreach, has officially opened submissions for its Co-Production Market at the 19th edition.
Scheduled from November 20–24, 2025, the event will take place at the Marriott Resort in Goa, running alongside the International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
As a key initiative of Waves Film Bazaar, the Co-Production Market will provide curated opportunities for Feature and Documentary projects. For the 2025 edition, a total of $20,000 in cash grants will be awarded:
- First Prize Feature Film – $10,000
- Second Prize Feature Film – $5,000
- Special Grant for Documentary – $5,000

The submission deadline for Feature films is September 7, 2025, while Documentaries must be submitted by September 13, 2025. Selected filmmakers will gain exposure to international producers, distributors, financiers, and sales agents, enabling collaborations and co-production agreements.

Since its inception in 2007, the Co-Production Market has played a crucial role in supporting acclaimed projects such as The Lunchbox, Newton, Dum Lagake Haisha, Schirkoa: In Lies We Trust, Girls Will Be Girls, and In the Belly of a Tiger.
By bridging creative vision with production resources, Waves Film Bazaar has positioned itself as an essential gateway for South Asian filmmakers to the international film industry.
The rebranding of Film Bazaar into Waves Film Bazaar reflects a broader vision to strengthen India’s role as a hub for global content creation, creativity, and international partnerships. The 2024 edition witnessed over 1,800 participants from 40+ countries, demonstrating its growing reach and influence.

Activities Beyond the Co-Production Market
In addition to the Co-Production Market, Waves Film Bazaar will host several other initiatives, including:
- Market Screenings showcasing new films to buyers and distributors.
- Viewing Room, a curated library of nearly 200 new Indian and South Asian films.
- Work-In-Progress Lab for films in post-production.
- Knowledge Series with industry panels and workshops.
- Producer’s Workshop, Country Pavilions, and Market Stalls to foster networking and collaborations.
- Cash Grant Winners in Previous Edition
In the 2024 edition, Kurinji (The Disappearing Flower) directed by Payal Sethi won the First Prize, while Kothiyan – Fishers of Men directed by Sanju Surendran secured the Second Prize. All Ten Heads of Ravana by Pranjal Dua received the third recognition under the grant initiative.
